He’s back off us!

We’re back, baby!

That’s rough. he’s only trying to protect his future children from never-ending pain. I really don’t blame him.

I don’t really care about if we have a young list. Geelong, Sydney and Collingwood haven’t seemed to care about having a young list for 20 years. Over that time we have had lots of young lists and it really hasn’t done us any good. Let’s do what they do, just be smart about how you run your footy club, recruit well, promote a winning culture and win games.

Lots of criticism being handed out to all players, but fark me, the whole backline was diabolical in that 2nd quarter.
I’m at the point with McGrath where I just want him out of the backline and I think he wants out of the backline. The most important characteristic of good backmen, at any level of footy, is to be cool under pressure. McGrath is not. End of story, not a backman.
We don’t need another midget midfielder so it’s try him as a pressure forward or trade.

Yeah he summed it up in one work ā€œLeaningsā€.

Yep. He was fuming.

Was disappointed with Langford’s interview. Just didn’t feel the anger about the result from him.

He was the one after the Pies game last year that was at a loss about how they crumbled in the backend of the year. Mate, you’re not exactly leading from the front now.

Take this with a grain of salt - I haven’t watched last night but from my mates and Blitz it’s evident where we are at.

My big concern is where is the improvement on the list is coming from outside of Caddy. I would argue Durham, Caldwell, Martin and Merrett are playing close to their maximum level. From last night’s team we need some of Perkins, Cox, Draper, Menzie and Jones to step up into becoming solid consistent A graders. All have looked a long way off recently.

The current backline looks maxed out in capability with the back ups in Reid and Baldwin constantly injured. Weideman and Hepp are done. The only young small defenders on our list playing VFL are Lual who looks a long way off and Wanganeen who should be given a go or let go.

Our mids not playing last night were Parish, Setterfield, Roberts, Hobbs and Tsatas. Parish will definitely improve us. I think Setterfield is likely to be gone at the end of year with his knee issues. Hobbs and Tsatas should be ones we are super excited about given they could be big improvers but both need to improve their kicking exponentially to be AFL stars. It’s also tough for them to get a gig in their natural spot in the middle with Caldwell and Durham going so well. Roberts is one I’m very bullish on as an outside player who definitely deserves a game before the end of the season. We look to have a solid player in him.

Our forward line is missing a goal kicking small. Menzie appears to be getting the chance again to show something but he doesn’t fill me with confidence. Gresham and Guelfi don’t kick goals consistently. The Davey’s show in glimpses that they can football - but can they do that consistently across 4 quarters and across games? No way at this stage. Stringer and Wright are more hot than cold and aren’t going to be getting any better in future years. Langford has been off a bit but again he’s not too far off last season which is as good as he is likely to play. Maybe Saad El-Hawli could add some X factor once he is fit as a versatile player who goes forward to snag a few.

Our rucks are a big concern. Goldy should retire and Draper doesn’t bring all the elements needed to be an A grader together. It looks like Bryan is not getting considered given he just isn’t physical enough. Maybe Vigo is the one but he’s super raw still at this stage.

So where does the X factor come from to improve us and help us win big games? It appears to be a long way off to me.

Should have kicked the winning goal but wasn’t prepared to lead. Passed it off.

Richmond will overtake us…again! Give them 3-4 years. Someone in the media the other week (can’t recall who), was listing their likely draft hand over next 2 years assuming Baker and Rioli go West, and they’ll potentially have half a dozen Top 10 picks running around in 2027 with 50 games already under their belt.

I don’t see any excitement and skill in the VFL side. Hobbs, Setters and Tsatas aside, I don’t see any other - maybe Roberts. I was big on Bryan last year, but I have jumped off there.

I was so annoyed by that too. My goodness.

All of our players that were fired up after last year, saying it’s not good enough and they want to succeed are also the ones ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  up and ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  the bed where it counts now.

What the hell has happened to Langfords goal kicking?

Selection has been horrible for a month or two.

He’s the captain. Kick the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  goal.

We are addressing them though.

We will just have talent thats gonna need 50-100 games pumped into them. Unless we get lucky.

And the free agency top ups mean we keep instilling a competitive winning culture

Good on him if he does that. Better then the misery we have all felt in here.
