Review vs Lions R12 2025

2MP is so frustrating.
His game tonight was very good
And his skills were awesome for such a big man.

If only tonight’s 2MP could turn up every week

Brad happy with the assistants tonight, thought they did a heap of work across the game.

Thought we got punished at times with some 12-point plays.

Merrett played back cos not enough defenders.

No sure thing of new recruits stepping in next week, but opportunity will arise.

Best game Brad has seen Caddy play.

He’s been quite good imo the last month without really making a huge scoreboard impact

Thanks. Thought that might be the case.

…* except for the first quarter

And what do we say about Caddy ?
Very classy player with a huge tank.
He will embarrass lots of defenders in the next few years.

Just don’t play on when you have a kick for goal in the goal square!!!

I hate honourable losses, but…

As far as honourable losses go, that was was more than tolerable. All the credit in the world for not just rolling over and losing by 100+ which looked probable one quarter in.

But Brisbane were sweating. They were panicking for awhile during that third quarter. For once, we were the ones forcing mistakes and panic moves with our pressure and the resulting momentum. Ultimately it wasn’t for long enough but it definitely got Brisbane’s attention.

The problem is just too many mistakes. Essendon beats West Coast, North Melbourne, et. al because the turnovers don’t get punished. The better sides don’t do that; they ruthlessly penalise and punish you when you make stupid mistakes. And we are very, very good at making mistakes.

That’s why you have to persist with the young and raw but talented, because they will make mistakes but also do amazing things. Caddy can have a goal square brainfart but then kick goal of the year right after it. These players have an attitude of resilience; they seem calm and in control despite the lack of experience.

We have plenty of older blokes who have been here 60, 70, 80 games who do all the same crap but aren’t providing the highlights. Some of them look like they are still playing for a paycheque. We have brought in some older players who look disinterested, lazy, are front-running and seem to be content with having a leisurely jog on the park. They are getting shown up by a bunch of kids with game experience in the single-digits.

Also Durham is okay too. Rolled ankle.

That was the only Scottism in tonight’s presser I thought.

You simply do not plonk Merrett at half back because defenders are missing. That’s silly and I won’t hear of it.

That’s the simple answer for the presser/public

Crowd 26000. It deserved more.
Good effort by the Bombers to get as close as they did.

That stings was looking like a brillant win coming up but then shat the bed the last 10 minutes

He is only 19 years old, plays like a GOD and gets the leash from Brad

The Essendon supporters were louder than the Brisbane supporters, at least on the TV broadcast.

I don’t think anyone’s ever disputed that. I think it’s the fact he’s not agile enough for mediums, is often beaten by taller players, and has terrible disposal that is his problem.

Origin was last night in Brisbane. Would take a few off tonights
