Review vs Suns V1 2025

Some good signs with Caddy, May, Kako, Roberts, Johnson, Lual, Clarke

You add Reid, Merrett, Durham, Duursma, Draper (or Vigo), Caldwell, McKay, Bryan, Ridley (if fit) and there’s the foundations of a decent team

Explore what we can get for Langford, Wright, Parish, McGrath (likely won’t move him on but that’s ok as he can play back pocket), Redman, Tsatas, Hobbs, Jones

Move past Lav, Gresham, Goldy, Davey,

Get us much top end talent over the next 2-3 years pre Tassie and be calculated with free agency

Really happy with the young guys’ energy and enthusiasm today. They’re building.

As a whole though, our players still look scared of making mistakes. They’re hesitant to make physical contact with the opposition, wait for their opponents to attack the ball, stand flat footed and, as is blatantly obvious to everyone, overdo the handball. Has all the natural instinct been coached out of them?

Just as an example, Mason Redman, who was someone who used to attack the contest at every opportunity, is now almost apologetic when competing.

Why is our team becoming so timid? I just hope these young guys are not over coached. The best players in the league are those who still rely a lot on instinct.

Gresham is a liability isn’t he? Once again no size, speed limited after injury and skills are questionable.

Good signs for 3 quarters and seeing Caddy and May both play well at the same time was promising. Ultimately the midfield, again, were really poor defensively and with their disposal.

Majority of the team out on the park wasn’t on the list two years ago.

Completely forgot the game was on.

And they both started out of the square in the last qtr.
Nek minnit.

Obviously not quite a rusted on supporter……YET!! :joy::joy::joy:

I thought Clarke was decent, probably should have had 3 goals, missed a gettable one then had his head ripped off and no free. Johnson did a few nice things too.

We need our poorer kicks to be looking for him, how many times did we work the ball to Hobbs to make an important kick?

Agree, thought Caldwell had one of his worst games before he went off.

Death spiral of a conscious, 36-year love affair.

Same. If someone could summarise the game in 6 words I’d really appreciate it.

We didn’t play any defensive forwards this week and no surprise Noble goes nuts.

Hmmmm.

Gave up in the 4th quarter

So frustrating that our mids just can’t deliver a ball to a forward. It’s all bomb it in and hope for the best! Lower the eyes and get forwards to at least lead. Get Harley Reid … though looks impossible!!!
Youngsters have real talent and have at least been given exposure, but surely conditioning staff must go.

Seniors let us down again fark

Is that a happy laugh or a last cackle into insanity?

MARVEL ROOF IS A BEAUTIFUL THING

Effort was there for 3qtrs which was great to see, last qtr was terrible.

Young players all showed something, and quite frankly carried the team

A lot of senior guys let us down…again

Lav got beaten easily by king all day, yet Ridley was never moved on to him

Our structure is still all over the shop

The mids and forwards have no cohesion at all

I still don’t know what our game plan/ style actually is. Going forward we look like we have no structure at all. We look like we have zero clue how to defend in either a zone or man on man as a team
