Review vs Suns V1 2025

Okay some good thoughts after a session of axe throwing and a drive back up the Hume.

For three quarters we had a real dip against a team that is significantly better than us and that was something we can be proud of.

The last quarter… I don’t know what happened. We stopped.

I liked Blakistons game. He made a few mistakes, but he attacks the footy, and isn’t afraid to leave his man to do so. I like that, it’s selfless.

Archer May can kick the air out of a footy. And gets to good spots. Got a good one there.

Kako played his best game yet I reckon. I like him up the ground turning the defence around.

Caddys work ethic is elite. He breaks defenders with his gut running. Until umpires get in his way.

Setterfields grunt work is so important.

Duz is a beast. Probably doesn’t surprise anyone, but it’s worth repeating.

Lav. By god I love Lav. Yes, he’s limited. Yes, he probably should be playing VFL, but he can never be accused of lacking effort.

Angus Clarke has craft and smarts.

Lual is intriguing. Brings something unique to the side. Maybe it’s just speed, IDK.

Merrett is a stud.

And now the bad:

Wallan services are filthy, clean the ■■■■■■■ floor.

And there are some very obvious issues with a couple of players and a lack of desire or effort which have already been stated. Fkg Concur. If it’s your turn to go get the ball and you don’t want to go get the ball - I’m not interested anymore.

If only we could bring in a ruckman or two plus a couple of key position defenders and maybe another half back flanker, all with battle hardened bodies. ……wait a minute!

I don’t think we can underestimate the impact Durham had on our ball movement. He was able to generate forward momentum from stoppage and the contest. He puts speed on the ball every time he gets it.

I was thinking yesterday he might just be our most important player now

Really p***ed me off too. It’s like we have a group fundamentally built of nice private school boys. Apart from Duzz, Archie Roberts and Clarke, it’s fake hardness.

I said to @BakerWasAStar at the time - “what would Ronny Andrew’s have done to Mac!?”

Get a backbone Essington - and not a fake one!

What is the game plan? Genuine question

Which needs to be tempered by the fact that Scott has been inconsistent at times with messaging, selection and the game plan, which has also contributed to this. While a lot of people don’t disagree with what you are saying, both can be true. We may be on the right track but people can still absolutely be uncertain about Scott and the jury is still out as far as long term development and success.

Honestly. I think there are only two players that missed yesterday that I would say with absolute confidence make us a much better team. Reid and Draper

What’s Collingwood’s game plan?

I was kind of surprised too.

Because Andrews threw the punch, and then pushed Duursma over……. And Caddy and Wright were just standing there watching it.

I’m guessing May was on the bench at the time.

But if a punch like that was thrown on the other side of the ground, you can bet Roberts and Clarke weren’t standing there watching it happen.

Move them 2 clowns on.
Should be sweet.

I don’t even get sad when we lose anymore. That’s how broken I am lol.

Langford, Laverde, Goldstein will/should all be moved on so we are up to 5 without a forensic review of the list- that is a decent amount

Like other teams they all have one or two players at the back of the contest and then spread. Also when we kick in our players are way too close to the designated kicker resulting in a short kick and secondary kick goes to an outnumbered contest. It was really noticeable yesterday that when we kicked a point GC ran hard and fast or were set up about 50-60m out to create options to their advantage. Our coaching is terrible!

TBH I don’t think anyone does.

Every team has 1 or 2 players at the back of the contest and spreads.

To the surprise of nobody, the midfield looked infinitely better without Parish in it.

I hope the club see that he’s surplus to needs going forward.

Which ever free kicks the filth get, we don’t.

except us was my point

They obv have their part but too much is made of them and they also provide excuses. Who remembers the game plans of the last 10 premiers. I know the dogs in 16 were handball at all costs and Collingwood boundary something something but then I’m out.

We do it too. We have players all around the contest including at the back.
