Rnd 1 2023. Who do we play?

No “ourselves” option?

the question wasn’t “who will we beat round 1”

Footscray in Darwin, and if not that GWS in Sydney.

Hawthorn (no good in 2020)
Port (prelim finalists)
St Kilda (semi finalists)
Sydney in Sydney
Brisbane (prelim finalists) in Brisbane

2021 wasn’t an easy draw early.

That’s every week.

Round 1 - Geelong @ Kardinia Park (A)
Round 2 - Melbourne @ MCG (H)
Round 3 - Brisbane @ Gabba (A)
Round 4 - Western Bulldogs @ Marvel (H)
Round 5 - Port Adelaide @ AO (A)
Round 6 - Collingwood @ MCG (A)

You just know, despite the talk of the “easy draw”, that we’ll get ■■■■■■ over with a beginning like above.

And by the time all the so called “easy games” (that term shouldn’t exist at Essendon) come around, our confidence will be shot by being whacked around by the better sides and will struggle.

A Bombers vs Hawthorn Round 1 will have a 90,000 + packed stadium. Hopefully it will shut the Tiger vs Scum pieholes cos I’m sick of their season openers.

Lol, I don’t reckon. Years ago it might have. If we got Hawthorn at the G round one, we’d get max 55,000.

Round 1. Hawthorn. MCG. Away. Sunday afternoon.

I would have loved a home game at Marvel to start against them but this is still fairly ideal.

They are going to have a tough year next year (we probably will as well) yet Round 1 is always full of surprises. We’ve certainly had their measure recently and they look like being a weaker proposition next season.

Hawthorn it is, better start working on my abortion comments now

I’d prefer an away game at the G over a home game at Marvel any day.
