Hypothetical question, but if you suspended Sidebottom for a year under the cloud of ‘drug cheat’ when he was 25, do you think that might have had an effect on the rest of his career?
If only he created a Blitz account and sent the letter himself…

I think Sidebottom would of come back in ripper shape- would of taken a little bit of time to get back to his best. Then it would of been business as normal for him
Fair enough. Very few saga players did that, I personally don’t see why Steele Sidebottom would have.

Fair enough. For mine the biggest thing Hurley lost during his year off was his “hunger” .

I noted above, if it wasn’t for the supplement saga, our early 2010’s side had the potential, with free agency, and a peak BJ and Jobe to be a genuinely good side with a few more tweaks.
The other factor as well is the expansion clubs, who joined the league at a similar time to our supplement saga.
What is extremely clear, and an unfortunate side effect is that the sides that were at the top around that time (Hawks, Cats, Swans, etc.) ended up staying at the top for much longer given the bottom sides did not get the talent that they would have otherwise got through the draft. If we’d not have had the supplement saga, who knows, we may have been one of these clubs too.
It’s a massive combination of supplement saga + expansion clubs + poor drafting / development.

I’m waiting for the Hurley retirement article where he comes clean in how farked his wrists and shoulders are. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s barely done any strength training in years
You don’t go from wrestling with Tredrea to getting thrown out of contests by lean hbf.
He was a beast but it’s injuries not application that curtailed that.

From what has been made public, it’s his back issues that seemed to really weaken him.
He already said he has nothing against Sidebottom, he just has a passion for sticking up for our players.
I think he has a strong point about the saga, we will never know the true impact on the team who went through it.
Heroes just to get off the canvas and get on the park again in my book.

Theres a few sliding doors moments last 15 years.
Not getting involved in the Burgoyne trade, could have made it harder for Hawks, and not got Williams.
Maybe Cats end up like 5 time premiers.
Could have traded Lloyd out late career, or played him as a forward and got him to 1000 goals, rather than protecting Neagle.
lost Bryce Gibbs cup and ended up with Gibbs, or Dodoro not picking Gibbs, he could be sacked by now.

The highlighted bit is how I see the Woosha media pressers,and the lack of Ruttens communication all year.The clubs intentions are just all sorts of wrong here in my opinion.
A head coach that can’t directly express himself to ‘the populace’ just comes across as weak.
And Worsfolds flat batted approach to the media,just shuts us supporters off from what is really going on.

And I tell you,in a year where im unemployed,paying $800 to support the club without watching any games live?
Its absolutely left a very bad taste in my mouth.

On multiple fronts, I haven’t watched a woosha presser this year. I’m sure I’m not alone. Our sponsors surely don’t like losing eyes from that costly sponsorship board
