Round 15 2023 Non Essendon Games and Pie Discussion

They are still in the same state of VIC though

Chandler. Bit selfish there.

They are not a Melbourne club.

My argument actually goes the other way. They should play ALL their home games at that dump.

I’m glad you asked, because nuffies have written the Laws of the Game. The quick answer as to whether you can be reported for an offence against a teammate is… it depends… on what the offence was!!!

As you read below, take care to note where they say “another person”, “an opponent”, “an umpire”, or “a player”.

It’s ■■■■■■■ embarrassing how amateur the AwFuL is.

Any of the following types of conduct is a Reportable Offence:

(a) intentionally or carelessly:
(i) striking another person;
(ii) kicking another person;
(iii) kneeing another person;
(iv) Charging an opponent;
(v) engaging in Rough Conduct against an opponent;
(vi) bumping or making forceful contact to an opponent from front-on when that Player has their head down over the football;
(vii) head-butting or making contact to another person using the head;
(viii) making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the eye region of another person;
(ix) making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the face of another person;
(x) scratching another person; or
(xi) tripping another person whether by hand, arm, foot or leg;
(b) eye-gouging another person;
(c) stomping on another person;
(d) intentionally making contact with, or striking, an Umpire;
(e) attempting to strike an Umpire;
(f) spitting on or at an Umpire;
(g) behaving in an abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene manner towards or in relation to an Umpire;
(h) using abusive, insulting or obscene language towards or in relation to an Umpire;
(i) unreasonable or unnecessary contact with an Umpire;
(j) carelessly making contact with an Umpire;
(k) disputing a decision of an Umpire;
(l) spitting on or at another person;
(m) attempting to strike another person;
(n) attempting to kick another person;
(o) attempting to trip another person whether by hand, arm, foot or leg;
(p) making unreasonable or unnecessary contact with an injured Player;
(q) engaging in a Melee;
(r) instigating a Melee;
(s) wrestling another person;
(t) pinching another person;
(u) engaging in an act of staging;
(v) using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language;
(w) use of an obscene gesture;
(x) engaging in Time Wasting;
(y) interfering with a Player Kicking for Goal;
(z) intentionally shaking, climbing or otherwise interfering with a goal or behind post;
aa) failing to leave the Playing Surface when directed to do so by an Umpire;
(bb) wearing boots, jewellery and equipment prohibited under Law 9; or
(cc) engaging in any other act of misconduct or serious misconduct.

The list of items has clearly changed over the year and almost no effort has been made to ensure consistency of capitalisation, to group like offences, or just get rid of redundancy.

I mean, look at these:

(h) using abusive, insulting or obscene language towards or in relation to an Umpire;
+
(v) using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language;

The redundancy, that they’re nowhere near each other, that the obvious message is you can use threatening language towards an ump… they’re just ■■■■, and you can report me for that.

Melbourne upping the ante

Explains a lot :wink:

Irrelevant, they are their own city and population hub that can support it

Ha- Hawkins afforded the luxury of two shouts of stand ! by the umpire

Two issues.

  1. They have always played at Kardinia Park, are not a Melbourne based team and never have been.
  2. There probably isn’t enough space in the fixture to add another team to the roster for the MCG or Marvel.

But Geelong is also a completely seperate city to Melbourne and it’s suburbs.

I mean at one point most VIC clubs had their own stadium.
Wish i was around to witness it love hearing old stories about Windy Hill, Princess Park etc

You are lucky not to have experienced the joy of the Brunswick St. oval, or Glenferrie.

Yeah it’s like why Geelong get their own stadium

That was terrible defending from Brayshaw there.

Geelong isn’t Melbourne or a suburb of Melbourne.

Would be like complaining a Ballarat team doesn’t play home games in Melbourne

Gawn not a marking presence down the line, nor is Grundy.

Rohan misses from 50.
Next minute he finds Hawk with a gem of a pass, Big Tom goals from 25m. Cats #4.

Pass comes in deep to the Dees forward line, a big pack flies, and they all miss. Smith about 6th in line marks out the back on his chest. easy goal from 15m. Dees # 3.
