Geelong player at CHB took a contested mark against Brown. Another Melbourne player standing a few meters further up the field. Ump calls “Stand Jack,” and Brown clears the protected area. Umpire has effectively moved the mark 5m in Geelong’s advantage.
They do it a lot in all games against all sides. The stand rule has been the focus for the umps, so much so that they are now actually forgetting to set where the mark is and they will screw up both ways: either too far back from where the mark is or they allow the player to run over the mark and don’t call them back.
I don’t like the stand rule.
