Commentators talking up Hawthorn. How wonderfully well they are setup in defence, how Geelong cant penetrate it. Nearly as bad as Round 1, Ling was saying Essendon players were all gassed midway through the 3rd quarter, and Adelaide were really well setup just like a Grand final team.

Sigh. Yep. They’ve got some toe about them and Clarkson wouldn’t allow backward steps at training. Burgoyne as amazing as he is probably can’t hold up at 35 though. There are possibly others.

it’s so embarassing for us that teams like geelong field 3-4 new guys every year and integrate the into the team well - this year fogarty, kelly, henry and late withdrawl ratugolea. meanwhile we are playing ■■■■■■■ mitch brown (unsurprisingly a geelong reject) instead of giving redman/ridley or even zerk a chance

even hawthorn looks to have regenerated their list a bit by having some faith in their kids.

Seemed to do it when he took a very low mark and rolled 2-3 times , grimaced as he took the mark.
people laughed at geelong when they debuted zac guthrie last year given he was so underweight. but he has slotted in beautifully and will be a long term prospect.
How wonderful their defence is? They conceded 5 goals in the first qtr!
Hawthorn look okay so far this year. They will be around that 7-10 Mark imo

Geelong appear to recruit ready mades, probably with the exception of Guthrie, but they tend to have big bodies the debutantes. Maybe the luxury of knowing you’ve got 2-3 players who will carry you while they integrate. We recruit a lot of string beans then play them for 4 years in the vfl, then break them or they leave after a couple of AA years and tell us our club’s ■■■■■■. Plus our big bodies are slow and soft and our mids never develop beyond a certain point.
This is in line with the current weekly Blitz narrative. I’m 50/50 on it.
