Hopefully the fact we’re still not bottom of the ladder is giving some people some idea of what an “AFL assistance” level season actually means when it’s your team.

I’m awfully conflicted. I dont rate Brad much, but what hope does he have with our senior players? But he plays them cos its probably the best chance for a win (apologies for being resultist)
But these are our senior players tonight;
Caldwell - little impact. Not as bad as last week I guess is a positive
Durham - gets a pass for setting an ok example in attacking the ball
Duursma - non-event - what are we doing to this guy?
Langford - awful
Merrett - as bad a game as I have seen from him. Tackled ok
Parish - awful
Prior - what is the point of him?
Wright - OK
McGrath - OK
McKay - does nothing
Guelfi - Jesus
Perkins - did exactly what you expect

My sister who is not a footy fan watched that match with me tonight and made so many brilliant comments about what’s wrong with us.
Said we need to strip things back and get back to our fundamentals, replace the same failing senior blokes, certain guys not trying etc, pointing out our defensive deficiencies.
My sister notices this, someone who doesn’t watch footy weekly at all, yet people within the club who train and spend more time with each other can’t. I said to her if you thought this week was bad, you would’ve given up after last week. We’re so cooked.

It can’t just be Brad, it’s the whole system that is deeply flawed and dysfunctional. I’m really at a loss here, I have no idea where to start pulling this all apart and trying to figure out how we actually grow as a club. Our young players are talented but they are led by bog-average senior players who have never tasted success and have been allowed to put in effort randomly and inconsistently.
My 7 year old said after last week “daddy, I’m going to support the Tassies now” and all I could say was “yeah that’s probably a good idea”.

Infuriating to watch even late he couldn’t hit Blakiston easy 40m pass
We’ve gone backwards.
Physically we look and play slower and weaker.
There’s a massive lack of cohesion.
We are easy to play against - put pressure and we crumble as our skills get worse and we panic.
Even without immediate pressure we take the wrong options which get us into trouble and turn the ball over.
We look and play like a team that has no idea what to do. It’s difficult to see who has what is needed to stand up and get us out of this mess.
There are some good kids there, but we need to get some genuine confidence back into the side soon.
What a mess.
