Interesting, I was just listening to Dermott Brereton on SEN just before.
He was talking about Ruckman becoming Key Forwards. And itâs happening more and more in the modern game.
The problem is that in juniors, the big boys play Ruckman. When they get to AFL, theyâre too small to be ruckmenâŚ. So they turn them into Key forwards.
So most of the genuine 200cm Key forwards donât have natural forward craft, that they learn in juniors. And they wonât learn anything more than running to the drop of the ball. Itâs unlikely these blokes will learn how to lead, or create space inside 50.

Credit where itâs due our boys really stood up in that last QTR and were able to get a gutsy win.
Our skills and decision making for most of the game were still average to say the least.
If I was a Port fan Iâd be very concerned. If they ran into a competent side tonight that would of got very ugly for them.

We arenât going to have to try to lose to finish bottom four.
We are still very poor. Port Adelaide were just (somehow) worse.

Great to get a win but letâs not get carried away. Port arenât exactly flying and we couldnât even kick 10 goals. We ainât gonna win many games scoring less than 10 goals.
But a win is a win. We will take it. Better to be 1-2 than 0-3.
