Anyone worried about Carlton becoming an actual good side soon, have a think about this. They’ve got the following blokes playing today who are mostly still important contributors for them:
Ed Curnow: 29 yrs old - one of their leading possession winners so far today
Simpson: 34 yrs old
Thomas: 31
Kreuzer: 29
Jones: 28 (Hopefully he’s got 10 years left in him though)
Murphy: 31
Casboult: 29
Casboult is the only one of those guys who isn’t best 22 for them at the moment. So they’ve got 6 best 22 spots to replace over the next couple of years, aside from developing some other spts we’re they’re still struggling.
The old guys in our best 22 at the moment are:
Hooker: 30
Zaharakis: 29
TBell: 29
Myers: 29
Baguley: 31
Most people want the the bottom 3 of those guys replaced and are convinced we’ll be better as soon as they’re out.
We’re in miles better shape then Carlton for the foreseeable future.

He does tag, more often than not. Sam reid’s not much good either. Just doesn’t fit the narrative.
We could be fighting against Hawks for a spot in the 8, so yeah.

Liam Jones, DT and Ed Curnow have been good value for them this year.
As soon as someone starts delisting guys based on age rather than ability, it’s easy to discount them as a complete idiot.
I only really wanted to list the 29+ guys. I only listed Jones because he’s a spud and pretty close to that age.
On the first point, yes, some people would include Zaka. I don’t agree.
One thing I’d be wary of if I was a FC supporter is that they didn’t push the margin out past 5 goals. Didn’t capitalise with only two goals that term and at some point Hawthorn are likely to make some sort of charge.
