Very puzzling. It is just a 10 Watt WiFi and GPS jammer which triggers the safety features of civilian drones that are out of control or don’t know where they are to make them land immediately or return to takeoff position.

Anybody using civilian drones for combat should at least be modifying the firmware enough to make these ludicrously expensive devices useless.

I assume that the collections for Ukrainian “Drone Army” and Russian equivalents do fix those going through official channels and the purchase of such counter-drone devices is either a mistaken waste of money or a scam. But there would still be some “strays” from donations direct to individual units that were not modified.

Don’t donate to individual units. It isn’t the way military equipment is deployed.

Vitaly Kim has posted about some Ukrainian mobile anti-drone hunter units. I think by moped he is referring to the size of the engines that power the drones.
I won’t say who and where we have, but this is the first result not of air defense, but of mobile moped hunters

This exchange in the comments caught my attention. (Double click to enlarge)

Motorola was typical of the separatist Thugs doing Putin’s dirtywork in the Donbas.

The World Bank ( which has a special sub site on Ukraine) has issued a sobering report of the Impact of the Russian Invasion on post pandemic economic recovery.
For Ukraine alone, the economy is estimated to contract by 35% due to destruction of factories and damage to farmland.
The World Bank continues to provide special financial assistance to Ukraine.
The latest US financial assistance has been provided through the UN agencies

After this war (fingers-crossed), I hope the Australian military conducts a thorough download of lessons from our Ukrainian friends.

Because as shambolic as Russia have been…this must still be a near-cutting-edge practical example of modern warfare?

Not easy when Ukraine won’t sit at the same table as Russia.
Ukraine is endeavouring to extend the Black Sea grain deal beyond November, working through Turkey and the UN.
Meanwhile, the US and the EU have managed to have Armenia and Azerbaijan sit at the same table to discuss elements of a Peace Treaty. Armenia wants an international monitoring presence at the border.
UA is calling the border of the Russian annexed Territories ‘ the legal frontier’ and refers to de-occupied Territories. Words matter

Interesting view - not sure how accurate but goes to show that morale has a big effect on a forces ability and will tip the balance in terms of force ratios.

Surrendering seems like a high risk moment. Good to see, but can easily accidentally escalate.
