Russia invades Ukraine - 6 - from 7 August 2024

I would think that’s distributed over a large area, not a single defensive position.

I agree with that point. It would still test RU logistics and competence.

Late articles for night owls.

I’ll assume that this farkwit knows that it’s Russia invading Ukraine, not the other way around right?

What a ‘gal’.

What force can Trump exert over Putin? Trump can help Ukraine escalate things (long range targets inside Russia) but that goes against what Trump has been saying (worrying about the nuclear threat).
American boots on the ground? Again the nuclear threat.
On the other hand, stopping aid to Ukraine now and or a cease fire would be the best thing Putin could ask for. And either way, if Trump makes promises to Russia to convince them to stop then it’s going to cost the USA a lot.
People suggesting Putin trying to grab as much land before Trump steps in is IMO giving too much credit to Trump. It could also be that Russias war time economy is rooted and factories can’t keep supporting the war if they aren’t getting paid. What we have seen the past 48 hours could be Russias waves before they culminate.

I have heard this justification before. I didn’t buy it then l don’t buy it now. The critical question is: Would Putin have invaded UA anyway? I believe he would have invaded regardless of anything America did or did not do. Then there is the problem of Putin’s credibility, he has none. He can’t be believed, he can’t be trusted.

The point of successive and continuous waves is to tire out and then overwhelm defences in a small area then secure the area with another wave then rinse and repeat forward from there. In this process ru troops are sacrificed solely for the sake of building impetus. If they don’t (or can’t) keep moving forward, they get rolled over by the next wave…

I was hoping for a decent takedown of the rubbish claims made by Sachs and promoted by Elon. Unfortunately the “journo” simply watched the video and then summarised the points into a “news article”, no doubt scoring many clicks on the way. Pretty ordinary, happens far too much.
