2/ Under new rules announced today at 13:30 Moscow time, Putin decreed that the rules for compensating injured soldiers would be changed with immediate effect. Until today, all war injuries resulted in a compensation payment of 3 million rubles ($30,457).

3/ A three-tier scale has been introduced, with payments depending on the severity of the injury:

:mending_heart: Severe injury - remains at 3 million rubles
:mending_heart: Moderate injury - reduced to 1 million rubles ($10,152)
:mending_heart: Other category of injury - reduced to 100,000 rubles ($1,015)

4/ This represents a 33% reduction for moderate injuries and a 96.6% reduction for light injuries. With Russian casualties now reported to be above 700,000, the government likely aims the huge cost of compensating injured soldiers, which is a major burden on the budget.

5/ The urgency of making this change is apparent from the unusual speed with which the decree has been implemented. The Faridaily Telegram channel reports: "Just 2.5 hours later, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin reported on the work done…

6/ “The speed with which Putin’s order was carried out is incredible; usually, orders are carried out for weeks and months (and sometimes years). Obviously, the Kremlin, the government and Defence Ministry officials had everything prepared and agreed upon long ago.” /end

The cutting of payments for wounded and dead soldiers is something l have been expecting for some time. The speed at which this new policy has been implemented should not surprise, although the efficiency with which it was introduced does. Just shows that when it comes to money, RU can be very competent.

This is a cheap PR exercise. These tanks will need to checked over and refurbished. There is a healthy chance that some won’t be battle worthy. Even if some make it to the front lines they won’t last long. RU quickly closing in on 10,000 lost tanks, should reach their goal around Christmas.

Yeah, they’re trying to register it.
Is it possible that Blitz could register “Fark Carlton” or would all other clubs except Fark Carlton object?
I mean, it is everday lexicon.

Ukraine should start building Nukes now, don’t bother waiting to see what BS is forced on them.

Also don’t understand why Ukraine would ever agree to territorial concessions. It’s completely pointless to them, it’s still an enemy on their border.
Far better (IMO) to “freeze” the conflict Korea styles, and not give a greenlight to any of their “allies” to start trading with Russia again (or to Trade through Ukraine).
The sanctions should eventually cause the collapse of Russia.

Also highly likely that the vast majority of wounded will be downgraded to the lowest tier (“missing both your legs? Tier 3 for you”) regardless of how badly they are injured. And those that would qualify for tier 3 are already being pushed back into service on the frontline anyway (which means you can’t be injured, as you’re fit enough to fight, right? Until you get killed of course, and then they’ll just list you as “missing” and not pay anything anyway).

Trump kept referring to liquid gold on election night. US has a total embargo on Russian energy imports. Unfortunately others are not yet in that position as they seek out renewables to replace fossil fuels as part of adaptation to Climate Change.
It’s in the news at COP29, hosted by Azerbaijan boasting about its fossil fuel reserves ( and as it uses it fossil fuel wealth to meddle elsewhere where there is domestic unrest).

Reasonable chance that SK will do some very creative deals with Poland once the new factories for tanks, SP guns and MLRS are up and running in Poland.
