Russia invades Ukraine - 6 - from 7 August 2024

Not specifically UA war related, but another Russian has fallen out of a window. A preliminary investigation has ruled it to be an accident…

I don’t care about the reasoning for the decision to change and allow UA to use long range missiles. I also don’t care that there is a danger of escalating the war, although l don’t believe it will. I do care greatly about the ability of UA to defend itself. RU is barely able to fight this war, their incompetent and corrupt military is not capable of expanding the conflict against others. With winter closing in the UA forces will get a chance to reset, as logistics will be compromised by the snow and cold.

Hmm, Ukraine trench art creates a ballet dancer and voila, a Russian ballet dancer ‘falls’ from a window.

As an extension of this coincidence, I hope the Ukrainians do a trench art portrait of Putin.

GOP Ukraine hawks slam Biden for ‘slow-walking’ decision to allow strikes inside Russia

So, this article is 11 hours old. I’d suggest Washington has since sent a very ‘clear message’ back again.

And thanks @sweatyman . You’re a legend.

I’m holed up at home with a busted knee awaiting a surgeon’s assessment. Surprising to some (not me) Blitz is keeping me sane as I flit about on the keyboard.

Another one of those stray random thoughts occurs. With the US now allowing their ATACMS for long range strikes, followed by the UK and France allowing the same, a conundrum is created. What do the Euroallies do if Frump stops the use of missiles once more when he takezs over? Further than that, if the Euroallies continue to allow the use of their missiles, would Frump then feel compelled to continue to allow UA to use US .issiles for long range strikes? I ver much doubt that he would feel thus compelled.

The genie is out of the bottle. It’s a good question @Captain_Jack , it will be interesting to see how Tchump responds when he gets to wear the big boy’s pants again.

If he stops the use of American long-range weapons, I’m of the opinion France and the UK will (quite rightly) give him the bird and carry on supplying and authorising long-range munitions.

Both France and GB have wanted Ukraine to use long-range munitions for a good while, and they couldn’t jump onto the long-range bandwagon quick enough once the USA agreed to it.

No going back for these two nations, I reckon. Unless the US applies some sort of typical American nefarious political leverage to do so.

As I understand it, the use of storm shadow and scalp required US approval as they use core US tech. Presumably permission will need to be granted if Trump reverses the decision in January.

What is not lost on me and presumably Trump Jr doesn’t understand, the US contribution is not direct financial aid, but to the US military industrial complex to modernize/replace legacy equipment. Those companies are making Billions and in turn, keeping Americans employed. If he had any financial acumen, this would continue.
