Russia invades Ukraine - 6 - from 7 August 2024

And launching munitions from well out of visual range. It is like he is advocating for some sort of 3D CCTV in real time on all critical airspace … ?! I mean, ‘impractical’ doesn’t begin to describe it…

AI loyal wingman type drones will do a few things before they become full self sufficient warfighting platforms.

  • aerial refuelling tankers (keep the manned planes flying longer)
  • radar platforms (fly into danger and give the manned planes better awareness)
  • missile trucks (fly into danger and fire at the targets the manned planes give them)-

The big one stopping AI drones making fire decisions is fallibility of the programming. Do you trust a computer to kill people because it thought it was a good idea?

We might see commands like “fly to this place and kill any targets within this specified area of airspace”, but it’s an ethical nightmare. Probably this will be pushed forward by China and then the Western airforces will activate similar programming.

In his tour. d’horizon of conflicts around the globe , Blinken gave a paragraph to Ukraine.
He referred to the Biden Administration locking in financing through 2025 and to the bilateral security agreements of some G7+ with Ukraine as vehicles for continuing military assistance.
He also referred to the ongoing assistance by the G7+ to restoring energy infrastructure and other energy supply aid to civilians

Other interesting titbits.

How’s Russia’s form. “We’ll bombard you, but how dare you retaliate”.

Russian extortion, err, peace proposal.

Look, you really should have thought about this before you started out invading your neighbour.

Contested skies.

Preparing for the worst.
