Russia invades Ukraine - 7 - from 10 April 2025

The US has cancelled Trump’s planned Budapest summit with Putin after a Russian memo to Washington, which made tough demands on Ukraine, was quickly backed up by a tense phone call between diplomats from the two countries, - FT

The conditions included territorial concessions, a sharp reduction in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and guarantees that Kyiv would never join NATO.

Trump was “not impressed by their position”.

I don’t know why he was not impressed. These conditions would not have been a surprise, Putin has been consistent in these demands for a long time. They are one of the few things he has been consistent about.

Gotta give Russia credit, they can absorb an enormous amount of losses and keep going.

The markets, after seeing Trump fold to China, are betting he’ll also fold to Russia.

Trump Always Chickens Out.

Talks a big game but only seems to follow through on the poor, defenceless and vulnerable.

I am sure we can all think of appropriate words for this behaviour.

If on a scale of 1 to 10, Putin is a 10 for invading and murdering on a massive scale, attacking civilians, committing atrocities and war crimes every day, where on the scale do the actors lie that engage economically with russia, enabling these acts of evil to continue?

An “accessory after the fact” is

someone who helps a person after a crime has been committed to help them escape, such as by hiding them or assisting with evidence. Sentences vary depending on the crime, but can be severe, especially for serious offenses like murder, where the penalty can be a lengthy prison sentence or even life imprisonment.

Maybe 7/10?

“Debris”

So about this debris. For mere debris to cause such damage it would need to pretty big pieces, coming off mighty big drones. Drones so big that could easily be spotted and shot down. Either that, or it isn’t debris at all, but RU propaganda. I know which one l would be betting on, if l was a punter that is, which l am not.

I have been to one cup. A group of us hired a large bus, there was no shortage of takers. We even took our own bookie. That was about 40 years ago, what a crush that was. I have been to a few Oaks Days. I used to drive a 20 seater bus, for my best friend and her girlfriends. The champagne popped bright and early and it became an epic day, with multiple pick up points and drops offs on the way home. We even arranged to have dinner as well. The girls were roaring drunk by about 9 AM, while l as the driver remained stone, cold sober throughout the day.
