Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed strikes on 12 Russian tankers, a tugboat and a cargo ship in the Sea of Azov. It also reported hits on the Yug Rusi oil terminal in Bataysk, where a fire was recorded, and a Russian ammunition depot near Sorokyne in Luhansk region. #Ukraine
35 ships hit in 96hours, with no sign of adaptation.
“Russian refinery throughput has now collapsed to 2.8mbpd from 5.1mbpd in 2022. Omsk is severely damaged, though not yet fully offline (see below).
Gasoline, diesel and jet shortages are now emerging simultaneously. With multiple crude distillation units (CDUs) knocked out across the refinery system, there is no quick path to restoring refining capacity. Sustained product imports are becoming Russia’s only viable medium-term solution.
Good luck with that. Belarus’ Mozyr refinery is the Kremlin’s best hope for securing up to 90kbpd of gasoline and a bit of jet and diesel. But it sits just across the Ukrainian border and is itself an obvious strategic target…”
Would Ukraine hit a refinery inside Belarus? It seems like that’d be inviting them into the war.
I don’t believe UA want to escalate by attacking assets on Belarus soil, that would be playing into RU hands and open up a much larger front.
Probably not, just quoting the tweet about it.
Not minimising the destruction of cities and towns but could we be looking at an environmental disaster here or are these tankers empty?
Great, humorous answer by Zelensky. Made me chuckle for hours.
Just from watching those videos from a couple of days ago, I doubt any of those ships are sunk. The attacks are using FPV drones and attacking the control bridge, radar systems or hitting the main deck. Lots of fire once they hit something flammable but would it sink such a big ship?
I think most of those hit would be immobilised and need a tug to drag them back to port or just be floating aroung aimlessly.
I doubt these are empty, they seem to be in a convoy, perhaps expecting there is safety in numbers? On this screen there are 9:
Scratch Saratov off that list as well:
Ukraine’s military reportedly struck the Ilsky Oil Refinery in southern Russia overnight on July 10, Russian Telegram media channels reported.
Are you forgetting the First Crimean war of 1853 ? Viewed as first “modern” war and Australians served as part of the English Army.
Russia lost that one.
That was Max Katz’s video description that came with the video.
