Sean Murphy - fitness muggins

Any more you can divulge? Or just big changes in the horizon?

Don’t make plans Justin Crow.

Nothing more concrete other than changes are coming. But then again even blind Freddy could see that needs to happen. I will do some further probing and see what I can uncover. Brad not happy with the soft tissues though.

I’d believe this, it’s the last jigsaw in the footy department overhaul. We lack an identifiable strength and conditioning program. I just hope whoever it is, it’s not more former WCE strength and conditioning staff.

Soft tissue AND injuries to most of the big blokes a massive issue.

Do you suppose the success the program had on the years before were due to the PEDs the players were taking?

he same PEDs that Vlad and Gil shat themselves about before having to find a scapegoat to take all the blame?

Maybe that’s why they were over-ruled by the heirerarchy andleft. You know, for the reason the AwFL loves second best: optics.

Hopefully not, we need an absolute gun in the footy dept GM role.

OH MY GOD ITS DAVID GOGGINS MUSIC

It did its AxCLe on the way to the Hangar. Won’t arrive for another 8 month.

Would be good to have a strength and conditioning bloke who isn’t afraid to get out blokes to bulk up

Since the drugs saga, our players have been noticeably weak in comparison to just about every other club

I think the injuries says alot about the lack of professionalism amongst the players, across many years.

It’s not like injuries are a new thing for this club. 20 years ago we were on this forum complaining about John Quinn and all the soft tissue injuries we were getting back then. Meanwhile training watchers were reporting back that he was yelling at the players, because they couldn’t be bothered stretching after a session.

How much of the injury issues at this club stems back to a lack of professionalism? Senior players are constantly injured, and imo likely has something to do with their lack of care and preparation early in their careers. Which eventually comes back to bite them.

I’m not just talking about doing warm ups before a sessions, but about living the lifestyle of a professional athlete.

The news is in - Zach Reid and Jordan Ridley will be heading our new performance department. It’s going to be called the Soft Tissue Injury department or STI for short. they thought that was funny but I didn’t get it

Definitely part of it.

Very easy to see that JD and Stringer’s inadequate preparation contributed to their injuries.

Harder to tell with some others.

But the S&C role is not as simple as design the program. They are also responsible for getting buy in from the players. Just as the coaches are accountable for this. So everyone has shared responsible on this side of things.
