COLLINGWOOD doctor Chris Bradshaw has been suspended by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

The matter doesn’t relate to his work at the football club.

The leading sports medico has been stood down from his duties at the Magpies pending further developments.

A spokesperson for the Medical Board of Australia confirmed Dr Bradshaw’s registration had been suspended on Monday, with the doctor reprimanded under section 191(3)©.

The AHPRA would not provide any further details around the suspension.

“Collingwood is aware of, but not involved in, a matter pertaining to Dr Chris Bradshaw and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency,” Collingwood said in a statement.

"Chris will not be fulfilling his role as Collingwood physician in charge while this matter proceeds.

“Collingwood is not in a position to make any further comment.”

Bradshaw is one of the most respective doctors involved in Australian football.

Having first worked at Melbourne, Bradshaw was then at Richmond from 1991 until 2004 when he headed to London to become head doctor at English Premier League club Fulham.

He returned to Australia two years later and served for nine years as chief medico at Geelong before moving to Collingwood at the end of 2014.

Hmmm, controversy?
Fake news. Obvious click bait.

Collingwood in 2014?
O Rly?

Looks that way.

Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009, Section 191(3)(c )

(3) If a panel decides a registered health practitioner or student has an impairment, or that a practitioner has behaved in a way that constitutes unsatisfactory professional performance or unprofessional conduct, the panel may decide to do one or more of the following—

(c ) for a performance and professional standards panel, caution or reprimand the practitioner.

Looks like this provision and the suspension of registration kicks in due to “unsatisfactory professional performance or unprofessional conduct”.

Good one Jamie Elliot

And hereby was the problem with AFL’s band aid fix from the saga that “everything has to go through the club doctor” like all doctors are perfect

Wow, that’s a pretty big deal. It’s HARD to get deregistered as a doctor. The Medical Board much prefers to issue reprimands and warnings, and if they’re anything like the vet equivalent, they are really really good at giving doctors every possible presumption of innocence, up to nodding sagely and accepting testimony along the lines of ‘another doctor did it and then ran away!’

Far as I know, it most commonly occurs when the doc is caught not just bonking a patient, but actually messing up the medical care of the patient to ensure that the bonking continues.

Bonking a patient is enough to get you banned, especially when the patient complains.

I’m struggling to work this out - was he boofing Jamie Elliott?

Yeah he really is doing irreconcilable damage to the saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.

I have no idea how how to insert a tweet on here from my phone, but if someone can, you should put Dane Swan’s tweet from today about Jamie Elliott on here. Hilarious.

Pis*ser, in more ways than one.

You can take the meth-head out of Collingwood but you can’t… No, wait, I guess you just can’t take the meth-head out of Collingwood.

From my reading (& note IANAL) there are two categories of misconduct - medical and professional. And the penalty was not for medical misconduct…

“Word coming from above is they’re going to change it to a bit of a panel and it’s not going to be voted on by the public, but I’ll just see how I go,” Howe said. “I’ll just have another crack.”

Howe was visibly surprised when Daniher’s name was read out on Brownlow night.

“I don’t think I masked it that well,” he said.

“If it happens next time, I might just have to look at the table the whole time.

This irritates me. Jeremy Howe is a little child. Who honestly cares about the mark of the year or how it is judged/awarded? Doesn’t he have bigger problems to deal with like the crap footy his side dishes up even though they have more resources and clout than any other club in the comp? Maybe they need a saga and last place finish to realise what its all about. The Pies are going no where and him worrying about this is even more petty than Nathan Buckley in his playing days being more interested in winning himself a brownlow than his club winning a flag.
