I was once at a social function and Craig Willis was there.
He’d had a couple but said he had to rein it in a bit as he was working at the dishlickers tomorrow. I asked him why he was doing the greyhounds, isn’t he bigger than that and he said “nah, women’s golf”.
The Stephenson deal stinks of an optics sweep things under the carpet play and hope like hell nobody dogs too hard. It was all too neat and insignificant, small bet placed through a mate, self report.
When I would speculate it was probably more big bags of money with off market bookies and players engineering outcomes for both themselves and the bookies benefit. First goals seems the easiest.
Work with a guy who’s son is high up in one of the betting agencies, just got word that 10 players are gone…didn’t mention anything about the club being kicked out of finals though.

I have pie-fans in the extended family that were so up on their high horse during the whole saga, even while their players were the only ones testing positive - that this would be beyond sweet payback if true.

Nah, don’t believe it. Like YT said, in today’s day and age the communication specialists would have been all over it to break it first.
The Collingwood president even called for the AFL to investigate an “amnesty” period for players to come forward and self report their gambling issues in order to get them out in the open.
McGuire suggested players could be given a period at the end of the 2019 season to confess to gambling problems without facing disciplinary action from the AFL — in a bid to stop them from being vulnerable to approaches from organised crime.
