Season 2021 - North Melbourne

Ignoring academy players there was a clear top 5. To the degree some called them the fab 5 in predraft discussions. The order varied a little between draft watchers.

Phillips was one of them.

yeh but when include Jammara he was 6th

Not sure how relevant JUH is to a discussion if Phillips was rated where North took him. Plenty of phantoms had him going as the third live pick.

So a 7% drop in membership sales in the upcoming year?

Who would you rather folks? Phillips or Hobbs?

Hobbs.

The treadmills probably need maintenance anyway

Going down the Melbourne track and placing unnecessary pressure on a young player. I love it.

That’s the best looking North Jumper I can remember.

From memory not hugely surprising - most phantoms had him top 5 ish.

the surprise was more which club took him.

Regardless of how Phillips pans out, their list would look infinitely better with McDonald.

I wonder if they still take him had they known that Powell (who has looked amazing) would be there at their second pick.

Placing a lot of importance on Larkey/Comben.

They’ve also got Zurrhar and Coleman-Jones to carry some of the load up forward.

Completely forgot they’d grabbed CCJ.
Still, McDonald has looked pretty damn good thus far

I think Grainger-Barrass would have filled an even more urgent need for them, with at that draft Tarrant (before leaving as a UFA) nearing the end and KPD depth of Corr, McKay and Walker.

I see it posted a lot that it was bizarre that North passed on Logan McDonald. I know for a fact he was dead keen not to go there. Whether he threw his interviews with them or outright told them he had no interest in playing for them, I don’t know.

Lol. Wait until he bails one year into his contract and demands a trade back to SA

That’s not very inspiring if you’re a North supporter.

Due to that risk and their need for talls, I was surprised they passed on Adelaide’s trade offer for #1.

Feel grief for any youngster drafted to the Tin Rattlers. Washing his own gear and cleaning his own boots will become tiresome. They must fold / relocate to Tassie. Bigger clubs must surely be fed up with subsidising these bludgers.
