So Barnz is saying that Homophobia can only be discussed by people who reside in Australia. Blitz has many who live overseas so that means they can’t discuss anything to do with Australia? Following this logic means that BB should not be discussing events that occur overseas because we do not reside in those countrie. It’s hard to fathom! Barn’z post is beyond silly.

however without living here you might not know the public use of casual homophobic language has been dramatically reduced (not eliminated) here in the last few years. so much so that when you make statements like this…
…they are so wildly incorrect that you’re going to get derided for making them

I’m not sure all of that’s right simmo, but do agree casual homophobic slurs in public have reduced (as have racial slurs).
From an earlier post there seems to be (a too) regular use in footy.
The pies said Rankine had done the same in more than one previous game…and they chose not to report. There aren’t many reports at all.
AFL suspensions will teach players to find other words to attempt to disrupt their opponents, but the notion that Rankine put forward that he’s ‘educating himself’ is difficult to take seriously.
The phobia is due to wrong beliefs and attitudes and that can only be addressed through effective education programs. Education can certainly occur during the suspension and returning to footy should probably be conditional on genuine engagement with the program. I wouldn’t rate flying to Italy and educating oneself as effective or genuine.

Their finals failure (I think they get done next week as well) is probably good news for us as their list will be under the microscope and the need for new talent (Draper) will become a priority.
Same could even be said for Brisbane (Ridley).
