I see what you’re getting at but, I mean they’ve been pretty friggin good for a while.
… and here we all are saying let’s build through the draft ![]()

I’m just hoping the cliff is coming. Pendles and Sidebottom plus their father’s sons have helped to hold them up for a long time.
I think rebuilding through the draft has to be the starting point. Then once you have a really good performing core you can do what the top teams are doing now and top up around this core. Issue is you need some draft talent still to come through. Sydney and Geelong are a lot better at this then the Pies.
Devils advocate:
I think they’ve had a very good strategy. Since 2014 they’ve made what, 5 preliminaries? From that, won and lost a GF by less than a kick and lost 2 prelims by less than a kick. They’ve traded/brought in some talent and good role players, where they stuffed up was giving up so much for Houston and not even playing him in his preferred position.
They may drop a bit next year but at worst they finiish 10th, then they’ll come back up again. They wont have trouble attracting players
What you’re saying is correct but look at the players they have drafted. It’s a largely a complete bunch of failures. You can’t sustain being a top team by bringing in players without at least drafting some AFL quality talent. The fact no one under the age of 22 is close to their best 23 is damning and to me makes the list unsustainable.
Marshall is Rohan Marshall.
Cameron had a good year.
surprising nick didn’t win, but maybe it saved Collingwood some $$ in bonuses.
And Mihocek is now gone.
Swan must have sucked
You can’t have seen many players then. He is every bit as good as people say he is.
The best player in a premiership team, the second in a Brownlow then best player in a prelim finalist is a fair ceiling.
No he isnt, if he played for us he would be our best player by a mile, he is better than Merrett. Though it is easier playing in a good team than our ■■■■ hole team
His problem is that the media suck up his arse and every ■■■■■■■ interview has to be done with his brother as well with the camera on Peter. (Like, why would you congratulate him for coming second, Hamish???)
Clubs have worked out that you dont need to stop Daicos, you have to stop the players he gives it to.
It’s an opinion, champ.
Everyone has one.
CHAMP ALERT!!! CHAMP ALERT!!!
Snitches.

I get it, he’s a cocky little prick, and he plays for Collingwood.
But holy ■■■■, his ball use, ball-getting ability, running power and agility are all outrageously good. If he’s not the best player in the comp he’s bloody close to it.
Their game plan and midfield setup is all developed around how he plays and so he is given a lot of freedom to just play how he wants. It is very well done and he is allowed to shine and impact games at maximum effort. He is a very good player, definitely up there was the very best in the current game. He also does go up a level when it is needed in games and has an impact.
It would be interesting if the midfield/game plan wasn’t built around him how he would go.
He isn’t a plug and play anywhere player like Hird was, he is limited to where and the way he plays currently. If you can push him off his game his impact becomes less very quickly and he can’t really be moved around as easily. His brother is a little more versatile.
