Iirc most games from a rookie selection or some such record?
OK - They’re in.
Nah, I think they are a finals lock now. Got lot of percentage on Freo.
Freo or Dogs will be the ones to miss. That’s an elimination final. Both are already below Hawks.
If Hawks lose I think they likely face an elimination final on the GC.
Even were Bulldogs to only beat Fremantle by 10 points and Brisbane beat Hawthorn by 100, Hawks still make the 8 by ~8% over Fremantle.
They are locked in, just a matter of where in the top eight they finish.
Looks like bltn is keeping a low profile.
Came across a note of interest.
Hawks the only team ever to not have at least one debutant get a crack during the season- 2025
Hawthorn’s not my team.
Poo & wee colours….yuck
Very noticeable against Brissy last Friday night, that theystand right on the mark, or often even over it. Yet hardly ever get called back. This limits the amount of space a kicked has, who then has to go back further behind the mark in order to take a kick. Contrast this with the league wide trend of the defending team backing way off the mark and allowing the kicker ample space and time to execute. Kickers then have an opportunity to run downfield, play on without any pressure, yet they rarely take that opp, instead they try to find someone closer to goal, with mixed results. I like the tactic of standing right on the mark and limiting options, rather than backing off and creating them. Obvious Mitchell coaching directive.
When the stand rule first came in we were criticised for taking too long to come back off the mark as opposed to standing on the mark. If Hawthorn are doing this the opposition will work it out and exploit it. I guess you need to be flexible.
I think there’s a bit of circumspection going on here.
Why are you calling out the selection strategy of a team that made finals and was 11 points from top 4?
Not really relevant to where we are or what we’re doing.
So what ?
Just expressing an opinion they have more than likely butchered a rebuild.
Its an asinine opinion based on what exactly ?
They’ve followed up a kick off a Prelim season, with a 15 - 8 season and 121%.
They’re 50/50 to roll the Giants who have zero consistency about them, then the loser of Adel/Coll if they get thru.
They’re a good side.
Boatloads better than us ATM !
Are you calling it a rebuild?
Not sure the point of your recent posts re “Rebuild’“
They were an inch away from going very deep in last year’s Finals, and are in contention mode as evidenced by the acquisition of Barrass/Battle.
They probably wont get the ultimate reward this year, though they’re in contention.
Wait, people think Hawthorn have butchered their rebuild?
Can we butcher ourselves to a 15 win season please?
They have a genuine shot at a flag.
Yeah, they’ve farked that rebuild right up.
I hate 'em but have to admire the fact that they just KNOW how to build a team for success. We wouldn’t have a single clue.
Just to be clear you’re stating that Hawthorn have butchered their rebuild?
I think what they are trying to say was that it wasn’t really a rebuild which I do agree with.
More of a reset and shuffled a few pieces around. They didn’t go down the blow it up rebuild route. I’m not convinced their method will work out longtime or have any ultimate success and I think in 2-3 years time they will be down in the middle of the road
