Going to the Rd.2 game against these guys at Adelaide Oval.
Taking bltn jnr whom hasn’t been to Adelaide before, and I’m yet to visit Adelaide Oval.
We’re doing the rooftop climb the day before.
Is The Hill a good spot to watch footy at the ground ?

The hill is good.
No cover from the elements but still good

My thinking was if we’re in a GA area and able to move, that movement away from undesirables becomes an option.
Its sound logic, particularly at a Port away game.
It’s an interesting theory, but you need to consider that the hill is only around 250 square metres.
Never found Port Adelaide supporters undesirable. In fact when I lived in Adelaide they were the only Team where Supporters showed any passion, knew anything about the game and actually made some noise.
Aceman probably doesn’t agree but these days Crows supporters show all the traits of Victorian hate I used to see in the 1980s, Port supporters just want to drink beer, leave their teeth at home and enjoy the footy.
Port supporters hate their own players more than the opposition!
They are pretty feral though and still love sinking the boots in over the saga.
Cows fans are just massive ■■■■■ though and I always get in more trouble at their games than Port ones
Yep they are feral but I found them good fun and they do like a drink.
But they were the genuine Port faithful if you are talking about the SANFL days. Plenty of those die hard Port fans abandoned the club when they entered the AFL and the fans they have now are just flogs ![]()
Is that right ?
First SANFL game I went to was Port vs South Adelaide in 1985 at Adelaide oval. It was Don Scott’s last game as Coach. My neighbour followed the Panthers so I went to Footy with him and his Mate. Two of the most boring people in the World, typical South Adelaide people I was told at the time.
I was giving it to Scott and I was about the only person making any noise, except for the Port drunks under scoreboard. So at halftime and went I watched the game with them, my neighbour abandoned me and somehow I got home.
The story came out that the Players refused to play for Scott because he was too tough in training, but the rumour was that Scott announced to his team that he was gay and the Club Board sacked him. Was that how you heard it?
I actually followed Sturt while I was Adelaide. Neil Craig was a customer of ours and I got to know him pretty well.
Soldo has done his ACL.
His tenure at Port Adelaide has been one of the most useless stints at a club I can ever recall
Yeah, he wasn’t getting a game this year barring injury to others.
The hill is okay for footy. Because it’s a dynamic sport with the ball pinging around, it can get annoying if you’re standing behind anyone that’s kind of tall. Think of it like a concert but the stage is constantly moving. The family section is less crowded and a better vantage point for kids, though I’d still recommend a seat if you can.
