Anyone who backs away from these players and this club now has no substance.

Listening to McGuire basically saying our club is falling apart was sickening.

support is one thing.

not acknowledging ther'es list problems and club issues outside of the asada investigation that has now become a continued theme over multiple seasons, is another thing.

We are. It’s tough for everyone.

I read the title and thought, I’m disappointed in you Ben having a shot at the players. But, you couldn’t have said it better. It’s been the toughest year ever.

Teams have horror runs for consecutive years, they all have their own flavour.  We were poor to middling for a very long time, last couple of years we've looked stronger but not strong enough yet.  Patience.  However f***ing depressing this is right now.

Here here!

Yup, but we are cooked. better chance next year than this year. Finals is a nice achievement though.

Well put, Benfti.

Unless there was deliberate and systematic doping by EFC - which I firmly believe there wasn't - I will never back away from standing up for my team.  Yes, once again, we are falling away at the business end like we have done now for so many years.  I believe the reason is the same - fatigue - but the causes vastly different.  When Hird took over, it was widely acknowledged that we were starting from a very long way back in terms of our fitness.   It is undeniable (to coin a phrase - thanks, Caro), that each year under Hird, we have gone a fraction further into the season.

This year, I think we would gone all 23 rounds and beyond, if it were not for the extraordinary mental stress that has reached a crescendo in the past month and has finally taken its physical  toll on the club and the players.  As members and supporters, many of us are feeling drained, worn out, mentally and physically stressed - I couldn't even imagine what the players and coaches must be enduring.

To have survived this far is a testament to the courage and quality of people we have at the club.  We have been hung, drawn, and quartered.  Of course, our hands are not clean, but there has been an assassination of the club that far exceeds the wrongs that have been done.  This has been our annus horribilis - overall, my worst year in over 30 of following this great club.  The on-field success has thus far masked some of the negative emotion and now that this success is ebbing, no doubt many more will find the need to vent.

However, we WILL rise again - sooner rather than later. We WILL overcome and we WILL be a better club for it.  When looked at with less emotion, I think we will find that In terms of personnel, we are probably not too many puzzle pieces off of being a genuine contender.

I actually thought he was being really supportive. I really do think he thinks we are getting a bad deal. And maybe he knows we are getting a bad deal.

yes well pout Benfiti. I tried to like it but I ahve "reached my quota of likes today" LOL

Beautifully put mate, I completely agree!

Won't stop the exact same posters after any loss from going full mental, especially at the players. If there is ever a time when we should be holding our tongues, this is surely it. Even those who have never been able to help themselves before.

And someone was saying we should be judging Hird with these losses? FFS.

I really like him as a caller but he was taking way too much pleasure from repeating that sentiment ad nauseum

McGuire sounded pretty sympathetic, I thought. Said he had a lot of old friends at the club who were hurting badly. I think he was sincere when he said he took no joy in what was happening.

Will NEVER step away from my club. I love this club? They game however… it can well and truly get stuffed.

So proud of our club
