Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 4, August 2024)

He wants out its why he’s playing poor imo.

You watch Harley next year killing it to which ever team he goes to

JHF looked poor at north

That’s not a great character trait then is it? To just down tools because you don’t like where you are

I don’t want anyone with that attitude anywhere near the club

We need a thread for people who are obsessed about getting on Blitz to complain about Blitz.

What’s seriously wrong with our club is that every single team pencils a win against us. Every club, ESPECIALLY the poor clubs thinks, if we only win 1 game this year, it will be against the Bombers.
Those teams may not get over the line but they certainly aren’t frightened of us.

We are going to finish 11th and cost ourselves a really good pick aren’t we

I don’t think I have ever seen a senior core of Essendon players as bad as this lot is

We are a bad football club, top to bottom.

Any optimism about our future is utter foolishness. It’s so ■■■■■■■ obvious to anyone who has watched other teams play footy, that our squad is garbage. Why are so many at the club blind to it!? It’s been abysmal viewing for so many years now, it’s ■■■■■■■ groundhog day.

This thread has been going for what, 5 years? 7 years? 10 years? How can so many of us here see it, like a car crash in slow motion.
Yet the other half don’t see the bigger picture.
Why is that?
We get a win here and there, and on this forum it’s “get a big dog up ya you negative ■■■■■■”

I feel like a lot of happy clappers are not looking at the big picture, not looking at the deep seated issues, they think a win here and there solves all as we roll on to yet ANOTHER season without success. These wins here and there are meaningless. All of them. It papers over the cracks. And we have a lot of them.

When is the clubs recruitment and development department going to provide AT LEAST 2 stars simultaneously? ■■■■ how about just 3-4 CONSISTENT A graders?
When was the last time Essendon had at least 2-3 outstanding footballers playing together???
Not flash in the pans like Parish in 2021 when we had about 6 weeks of “McMerrish” , I’m talking about guys year in, year out performing well?
Hird, Fletcher and Lloyd??
Why was Jobe basically alone?
Why is Merrett now basically alone?

It’s a MASSIVE indictment on our club.
There’s nobody to bring in from the reserves either. It’s diabolical.

We needed to lose tonight, and I know half here find that attitude disgraceful, but chop off. We need a circuit breaker.
We need to be right at the bottom, so do the Dees.
We need as many picks inside the top 5 as possible and hope we can recruit MULTIPLE consistent, skillful players FOR ONCE. Smaller margin for error if we can select from the pointy end as opposed to picks 7-10 odd.

This kind of showing tonight has become too symbolic of this club.

It’s a garbage attitude by him and if he is doing that now then what will he be like when we are still crap in 3-4 years time and he is sick of losing every week? He will end up bailing on us too.
And FWIW JHF was not “garbage” at North. He won their best young player award in his first season and had some pretty good games

Isn’t that basically our entire list?!

Agree. Falling in against Roos and Eagles will prove costly as we can only get access to the next rung of talent in the draft. Always fighting against the system, hard to get out of 10-12th ladder.

I still think they’re likely finishing 13-15th. It’s hard watch atm as you hate watching them flounder but know it could be for the best.

Wish we could just fast forward rest of the year and look for bright skies with great draft haul.

I don’t think the Reid decison will be in our hands anyway.

The guy is going to have a lot of choices. It’s hard to imagine a world where we are the best one.

We won more games and were better then.

Do we even have a development department?

De-development is EFC’s specialty.

Skilfull players come here but then get Essingtonned

I think we are now seeing the Barham coup has led to the club going backwards (or at best standing still while the rest of the AFL moves on). Barham promised a lot but what has been achieved? Perhaps we can forgive the bungled CEO appointment and the mangled attempt at chasing Clarkson. But the Scott extension at the start of the season smacks of a man unwilling to admit he may have have got it wrong. The club is a bit like the Democrats hanging on to Biden until it was too late.

Which one is Biden?

Barham. And the next chairman must find a way to rescind Scott’s extension and put a performance clause in Scott’s original contract.

His plan started and finished with the coup to effectively remove the brasher/campbell faction.

People then just incorrectly assumed he had a broader strategic plan.

There was a performance clause, he couldn’t meet so we extended him :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Oh, I don’t know. We didn’t turn Hobbs or Tsatas into a player who couldn’t kick. They both already couldn’t kick when we drafted them. I don’t think we’ve made them any worse at it than they were when drafted. Well, not much.

You missed the point. Look at those who came here with skills and have since gone backwards.

Whilst we do have 4 on the board. I find it particularly unlikely we get enough wins for 12th place. Particularly in light of the injuries we have.
