Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 4, August 2024)

Club is broken.

Coaches don’t know what to do.

Players have lost all confidence.

Board have no idea what the problem is.

Supporters are now indifferent. Not angry, nor frustrated anymore, they just don’t care anymore.

If Essendon was a racehorse, the humane thing would be to put it down.

No more shortcuts please, turn the entire club upside down. Even take a year or two off if required. Get in an indigenous witch doctor, just do something different.

I haven’t watched the past few weeks, and am actively looking for other sports to follow and encouraging my sons to do the same. The club is done, cooked, finished.

Even Carlton’s lack of success is getting old now. We simply need to flip the club upside down and literally do the opposite of what we think is the right thing to do.

I’m old and have experienced success, I just hope the kids that support this club will eventually feel some joy, or at the very least not feel embarrassed to support this club.

Is it still Dodoro’s fault?

Asking for a friend

He’s the biggest factor plus the idiots who kept him around for so long

Come over to the Rugby Union thread CH.
Jump right in .. the water’s not that bad :rugby_football:

No guarantee of massive success but at least the Wallabies have a decent crack .. whilst having to draw upon a small pool of Australian players tbh.

I don’t look at this thread very often because it’s too depressing, but I’m watching Gold Coast demolish Brisbane after beating Collingwood last week and I can’t help thinking how different things would have been if our fuckwitted Board of Directors had appointed Damien Hardwick as the coach to follow Kevin Sheedy instead of Peter Knights.

Talk about sliding doors moments.

Has the club released its “93% off at the Bomber Shop” email yet?

You just know there’s going to be a Paul Little article in the papers this week.

True. But they beat Collingwood the week before and this week they’ve beaten the reigning premiers. I’d say they’re tracking like a club on a definite upward path.

Unlike us.

yes but to be fair, hardwick has come in at the perfect time with all the work done by previous coaches to get all the early draft picks enough games under there belt, its a good example of how long a rebuild can take through the draft and it aint pretty

It’s always possible to say that. The fact is that good coaches take what they find, sift out and develop the best of it, add to it, and create a top team.

I don’t see any evidence of that happening at Essendon right now. Or for the last 20 years.

If this didnt say 24th I would think that it had been written by an essendon fan

Yeah, that one was an absolute disgrace. Fark we’ve been so ■■■■ for so long. Blink and that game will be 20 years ago

Not a dynasty. The executive farked it up

Why the club sucks after 20 years.

You do realise Hardwick was gifted that side yea? He had very little sifting to do as Dew and co did that all for him.

Add on the generous academy and AFL concessions:

  • Rowell + Anderson (Pick 2 Priority)
  • walter, Davies, Uwland, Read, Lombard, Rogers (Academy)
  • Zeke Uwland (coming through touted pick 1 by Twomey).

Only recruiting he actually did was get Rioli and Noble up North.
