It highlights a new problem than enlarges an existing deficiency. Blakiston makes our midfield worse.

He’s overrated imo. I don’t think he possess leadership traits on field from what I’ve seen of him.

The club simply accepts & embraces mediocrity. Rather than go out & actually land the best coaches they accept ordinary plodders with no record of success. Scott was always a mediocre choice. There was zero reason to believe he was ever a great coach & at best we were hoping he was a decent coach. He was sitting there for years not coaching so IF he was any good the well run clubs would have snapped him up. Instead we gift him our senior job & then extend his contract based on nothing. There’s no standards, no accountability in any part of the club. It took the disaster of last years injury list before we moved on Murphy, again a guy with no reason to imagine he was the best, yet we gave him 5 years.

Thats the best part of dodo’s philosophy of rating leadership so highly in his recruiting. We’ve had absolutely insipid leadership bar 1 FS pick in Watson.

In 2024 I flew down with the family to Melbourne to watch this game. Last year I watched the full game on TV. This year, I only watched the 8 minute highlights package on AFL. I am switching off my beloved club so quickly, that I may end up closing my Bomberblitz account one day soon. My post count on here must be a tenth of what it was 3-4 years ago.
My interest in this club is just vapourising round by round.
Martin wasn’t recruited based on leadership qualities though, he was an SSP.
It’s round 1 and I look at our list and there’s still about 10 blokes I’d happily let go of.
We haven’t been anywhere near strong enough on our list cull.
Plus our coach is a certified moron.

Stringer and Pat Voss may have been handy in our weak forward line.
Know how you feel dude, last year was pretty low for me supporting the club where I felt the same way as you. Just wanted to log off bomberblitz for a significant period of time, but honestly this site is therapeutic and it’s good to know there are many of us that think likewise about the current state of the club.
I’ve just invested in a new hobby which is watching EPL and supporting arsenal, which is worlds apart compared to the unprofessional sporting organisation that Essendon is right now.

You think I called him brain dead? Not at all.
In fact I wouldn’t say he was brain dead, he was a nice guy who was a lot more positive towards the club than I am.
What I’m saying is there are people who staunchly defend the club no matter what. That is what I call brain dead. People unable to see that we are a giant pile of mouldy horseshit and have been for a while, and people can’t see that there’s something seriously wrong with this club.

As much as people on here don’t like him, Kane Cornes mentioned last night how we should be taken off prime time TV and said how the AFL should know this by now. I don’t disagree.
Heck we shouldn’t have the marquee games, take Anzac Day and Dreamtime from us too. Having these kinda games has bred a sense of complacency and a lazy culture within the club too.

Has anyone with young kids - say under 5ish, ever contemplated making them support another team? I know its a bit of a meme saying stuff like “making your child support essendon is child abuse”
But honestly, im 100% considering it. Im 37 years old. My whole teenage and adult life, we have been a complete mess
Im not sure i want to risk my kids growing up supporting this club, and im being 100% serious
