There is. 6 of the 10 directors are elected by members - of which they typically just vote for the most name brand candidate. Sheedy’s spot can just be filled by the board as Chris has said^.
I can’t remember where it was on this forum, but membership value/worth and how much responsibility the paying member has in the current state of the club came up.
I mentioned I was a former 20 plus year (maybe 25) member and other than seats, a scarf and bumpers stickers in the mail, I never felt like I had any say in anything the club did.
Someone mentioned voting on things. I didn’t reply, because I dont vote on political stuff (I attend and tick my name off to avoid the fine) so If some horseshit EFC voting ballot showed up in the mail, I probably woulda tossed it.
But I dont ever remember EFC voting stuff coming in thr mail. And judging by a few recent comments, maybe it doesnt happen that much.
The AGM stuff used to be mailed out but I think it changed about 4/5 years ago. Now you get an email with a voting link.

An appointment is made with the approval of at least two thirds of the Board.
It’s funny, watching the mcguire and bartel podcast one of the first things Eddie brought up on that show was when he took over as president, he told the coteries you can donate all the money you like, but you have no say in the way the club is run anymore, if you want a say put yourself in the running for the board and get voted on.
We on the other hand continue to cower to the coteries and highly influential members of them, and sneak them onto the board via this pathway, because no doubt this guy thinks his way and his coteries way is the best way to go about things.

I’m beginning to wonder whether I might actually look forward to that day.
This vapid, mediocre, soulless husk of an operation bears absolutely no resemblance to the Essendon I grew up with. Shame on all those who’ve led its destruction. The events of 2014 were just the big sloppy turd on top of a shiit cake which was well and truly already prepared and in the oven baking by that time.
