Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 4, August 2024)

The coach is constantly saying there will be some “short term pain”. This translated means: WE WILL FINISH BOTTOM 2 THIS SEASON AND MOST LIKELY COP SEVERAL 100 POINT BELTINGS. WE ARE FULLY AWARE ON WHERE WE ARE AT THE MOMENT.

Why is everyone so confused, concerned and looking for answers?

Very lid off vibes here. Lucky we’ve had a win.

Stick to Lite n Easy champ. LMFAO.

This is spot on

The club should be on their hands and knees giving every supporter a Brendan Goddard nickname. Except all they do is treat us as cash cows and with disrespect

i am all for this but would like to remove the curse first because no dog deserves that burden

so maybe dismantle the hanger itself and then turn the ovals into the finest off leash dog park in the kings realm

those darn gloomers right again

This season is classic Bombers.

We all knew we were going to suck. But it’s the way we are sucking that really….sucks.

Even when we are prepared for misery, the club still finds a way to hurt the supporters. You brace for a punch in the face and they kick you in the gonads.

It’s pretty incredible that after so long without success, they still find new and interesting ways to let everyone down.

Most are past gloom.

I’m in a Zen state of acceptance that this club’s finished.

There was a passage of play yesterday right in front of me that summed up where we are.

Reid had an easy 20m kick to a leading Caldwell, it fell short forcing Caldwell to pick it up and give a quick handball to McGrath, he tried to get out of trouble and ended up with a quick over the head handball that was seized upon by Willmot who kicked the goal, some of our players dropped to their knees, others just walked back to their positions in disbelief.

McGrath copped the wrath, but we can’t execute 20m kicks with no pressure.

The crowd was so apathetic yesterday and it will only get worse because we show up now not even hoping to win, but to not lose by 50+ points.

We are where we are because the club rewards failure, simple as that

Newcorpse with a headline I partly agree with - not so much the fears about 1.5m man bit, but binfire is certainly not out of place in describing Essendon.

It’s an issue throughout the whole club

I see you conveniently left out Gather round.

Some people didn’t think we would suck at all.

Short term pain. I think he is suffering from short term memory loss.

Is gather round (Ess vs Melb) a big game? The only prime time gather round game we played was vs Port. We lost it by 69 points.

I’m trying to be more positive.

There is a pattern in all sport where bringing in a new coach or manager can transform a teams season

Essendon clearly have a good enough squad to benefit from a new manager bounce as long as we have a young or motivationally active coach like Stuart Dew this team could become something special and play with pride.

Scott does not have that ability he is too half hearted and most of the time the team can’t play a full game hard enoigh and for long enough.

I’m not expecting finals wins this year if we bring in a new coach but I’m expecting pride, fight and resilience.

Carlton 2019 under David Teague was one example they were bottom of the table heading for a wooden spoon, Teague came in and won 5 out of 6 he wasn’t good in tge long run but he got the side temporarily out of trouble.

So what is stopping us, the board isn’t brave enough to sack Brad Scott. a new coach might not win us a flag but he will gice us a new entertaining type of game to watch and get fans re engaged again

I think something that we all forget is the age of our players.

We have currently 19 players currently under 22, There is a a 2 year gap to the next oldest player (Liam McMahon (24, 0 months)).

May, Archie R 21yr 8mth
Tsatas, Elijah 21yr 6mth
Hayes, Lewis 21yr 4mth
Caddy, Nate 20yr 9mth
Visentini, Vigo 20yr 8mth
Roberts, Archie 20yr 5mth
Kako, Isaac 20yr 2mth
Clarke, Angus 20yr
Gerreyn, Kayle 20yr
Day-Wicks, Archer R 19yr 11mth
Bourke, Cillian R 19yr 11mth
Nguyen, Jayden R 19yr 9mth
Unwin, Rhys 19yr 6mth
Johnson, Zak 19yr 4mth
El Achkar, Hussien 19yr 1mth
Sharp, Dyson 18yr 11mth
Farrow, Jacob 18yr 7mth
Robey, Sullivan 18yr 7mth
Kondogiannis, Max 18yr 5mth

Some of these are forming the backbone of this years side.

Yes we have been abysmal but green shoots.

If Scott doesn’t survive the next coach has some great youth to work with!!
