Then I figured that it seems like the sort of thing that a club would cook up for a first 18 player, who is a key plank of their team and that they desperately need on the park. Cox ain’t that.
But then… this is Essendon. There are no depths that we won’t plumb…
It’d be devastating if it was Cox and Essendon. But we were extremely conservative with his recovery and he appeared to be under no pressure to get back, nor did he seem to put pressure on himself. Here’s hoping.
Its not that what Matthew’s said is specifically incorrect BUT its not that long ago Brisbane, while he was a director, were a complete basket case and it was ONLY because the AFL stepped in & gave them tens of millions in extra funding, gave them advantages like the academy selections to artificially get them out of their hole. If any club should show some level of humility it should be them but as always Matthews is an A grade kent.
I have 6 essendon hoodies and wear one each day (the other day is a New York Yankees one) and no one mocks me. Couple of Essendon supporters might say “go dons” (assume they are supporters), but never been mocked
The jumpers are nice so I wear them. Though one is a black-on-black which I’m not a fan of.
How many supporters do you reckon we have with the memory of a finals win? Percentage wise.
Nobody under 30 who supports us would have seen or have any memory of a top 4 finish. That is ■■■■■■■ sad. Only a handful under 30 would have any recollection of of a finals win too. Grim.
It’s diabolical to say the least. An entire generation of fans have been living purgatory, relying on replays and tall tales to keep their loyalty intact. I was 17 when we last won a final, and the memory of that era has all but faded.
’ Hope can drive a man insane.’ Those famous words of Red Redding ring in all our ears.
Not this one, as I am so privileged to have seen flags in 1962, 1965, 1984, 1985. 1993 and 2000.
Plus GF loss’s in 1968, 1983, 1990, 2001.
My children saw 1993 and 2000, but I do really feel for my Grandkids as they maybe old before we get another and I will certainly by gone back to dust.
