Unbelievable…forty years???
I saw them when they toured Oz in 1982…one of the worst concerts I’ve ever seen…they simply weren’t a live band.

40 Years
Think I’ll head over to The Reminders you’re Getting Old thread now.
My good friend Pete Rivett whom I worked alongside years ago used to make music I thought was great … here’s an old favourite.
I feel like she somehow did the, ‘wow…sexy new Olivia’ move like…five times.
I was quite a fan, back in the day.
I went to the boiler room at the BDO to see them, but they never showed.
Very disappointing.
Edit: I don’t know if I saw this (on something like Recovery, maybe?), or dreamt it or if it’s real or not, but I remember seeing them say they travelled around different countries to get those vocal samples.
I’m old. Might be wrong.
Can’t help re: their no show you mention Wim. But you’re right in they gathered samples in their travels and use them in the music. Material from India and other parts of Asia were places I recall talking to him about, and the first album had plenty from there. Pete was pretty anti USA political dominance too which is an obvious theme.
I’m old and wonder if I dreamt things too. But they were real, different and Pete somehow pulled those songs together. I think their sudden popularity surprised them. Pete, Jac and Kath weren’t huge celebs … they mainly hid from that stuff as their time came and went.
Last time we met was a while ago in Singapore where he’d settled down with his family. He was doing film scores etc. We laughed about the old days in Sydney. Talented trio … Pete particularly.
Heard, Safety Dance, the other day.
(Jeez, Unforgiven is a saccharine pile of crap. Sorry, fans.)
Great song.
