2 birds 1 stone
So many issues with this assessmentā¦
But the covers are at least good, of which only two come to mind. Ohā¦threeā¦that Interview With The Vampire one? Sympathy? That was pants.
Edit: they did do a whole album of covers that nobody remembers.
Edit: edit: unless youāre including Unpublished Critics. ![]()
Edit: edit: edit: Historically interesting track, though.
Slash has described the Guns Nā Roses version of the song as āthe sound of the band breaking upā
Rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke, who does not appear on the recording, noted that the recording foreshadowed his departure from the band:
They did that while I was on the road touring for my solo record. [ā¦] I knew that that was the ending because nobody told me about it. Officially I was in the band at that time, and they did that song without me. That was one of the last straws for me, because nobody had said anything to me, and they recorded a song by one of my favorite bands.
7:36!!!
I love this by them, actually have it on cd single. Great choice.
And one from Wreckless Eric.
What a surprise that you would disagree with me on music.
Just out of interest, can you name another band/artist who released a greatest hits album with a third or more cover songs on it?
Iāll fess up hereā¦apart from a few good tracks across their various albums, Iāve always thought that Guns Nā Roses were just a very average band.
That makes two usā¦
Further, Iāve always thought their version of Knockinā On Heavenās Door is one of the most mediocre cover versions ever recorded. Did absolutely nothing with it other than adding some whiny āaye aye aye-yi-yiāsā and tedious widdly, diddly solos.
Welcome To The Jungle is a belter thoughā¦
And thatās one of the few songs of theirs that I actually donāt mind ![]()
I reckon probably UB40?
Joe Cocker?
Such a big band ![]()
Eh. Pretty big.
UB40 has sold over 100 million records worldwide
Well knock me down with a featherā¦they never did it for me and Iām struggling to think of a song of theirs.
The main thing I know about them is that their name came from an unemployment benefit form in the UK.
Updateā¦Red Red Wine.
From a google list of their 30+ āwell knownā songs, thatās the only one I know.
I donāt like them either. I honestly canāt imagine buying any of their albums. Theyāre suchā¦dweebs.
But the world is full of baffling successes.
I was gonna say maybe Iāll Be Your Baby Tonight with Robert Palmer is okay, but itās not.
UB40ās early albums were excellent, but they sadly morphed into a MOR cover band.
I saw them at the Astor Theatre is St Kilda circa 1980 and they were great live.
Possibly the most accurate statement that will be made today on Blitz. ![]()
