Shoulda left it to Manfred Mann.

I reckon it’s a more than decent cover. (Still got the original M.M. single in my collection)

Heard this on the radio the other day. When the back announce mentioned Linda Ronstadt I went β€˜wait what’!

Anyway this was before my time a bit but I’d heard it enough over the years to be a bit familiar. I read recently (after hearing it a couple weeks back) that Mike Nesmith wrote it but it was rejected by the Monkees brains trust.

It’s been ear worming away but it keeps morphing into β€˜Georgie girl’, which I realise has the same basic progression…

I wonder if the seekers consciously or sub-consciously pinched it (they were later by a year or two)..

Sorry if I posted the song when I first heard it and have forgotten that. It’s just today I realised the chord similarity bit.

Edited to say that the man sitting behind Dylan has ears that give Sir James’ a run for their money x

Newport 1964, a year later. He comes onstage and sings this. Imagine being there and hearing it for the first time.

Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free.
