Sorry Saga - “It’s actually quite funny people thinking they know more than they actually do”

And Bomber applies the pressure to Evans by addressing the elephant in the room.

No idea if there is any actual biblical reference but sometimes Lucifer is referred to as the son of the devil or antichrist & sometimes the devil himself. Basically Vlad is pure evil but he still had an even more evil overlord.

FORMER Essendon coach Mark Thompson has appealed to ex-chairman David Evans to finally lift the lid on what went on during the Bombers supplements saga.

Evans stepped away from his role in July 2013 after a physical breakdown in the change rooms post-game.

He was spotted in the rooms after Essendon’s 25-point win over Hawthorn on Saturday night, but still hasn’t spoken publicly about the turmoil that engulfed the club under his watch.

But Mark Thompson believes it’s high time for Evans to end his exile.

“He should (speak),” Thompson told AFL 360.

“I think the players are still searching for the truth. I think a lot of people know stuff that the public don’t know. One day, yeah, he should tell us what happened.”

Evans hardly watched football during the 2014 season but gradually returned to loving the game as the supplements saga came to a close.

He had a meeting with senior club figures on February 4, 2013, including coach James Hird, and took a phone call from then AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou. The following day the club self-reported to the league and ASADA.

It’s believed Saturday’s game was the first Essendon match he has attended since 2013.

Thompson was fined $30,000 for his role in the supplements saga.

From what Bomber is saying, Dyson would know very little about what went on in the office of Dave Evans. Just like the members.

Agreed, thought I’d just note the obvious as a few posts have suggested the distinction could somehow work

It is a shame that Hirdy dropped his Supreme Court action against the AFL.

IMHO it was his big mistake in the saga, although given the extreme pressure he was under at the time who are we to criticise.

However, the Statement of Claim he filed lays out all the allegations in considerable detail and it is clear that Hird and his lawyers believed they had a strong case against the AFL and Demetriou particularly in respect of the “tip off” to the current prodigal.

The fact that the proceedings were withdrawn was the main reason from that time that the players and Hird were battling without their biggest weapon (excuse the term) and it is why the rest of the SS unfolded the way it did.

So Thompson, who “was there”, is asking for the same thing as many of us…

Thompson also states that he thinks the players still want to find out what went on…

Which is at odds to Darli’s assertion that they are over it and want to move on…

AwFuL self report, the rubberiest rubber stamp of any stamp to ever report.
Contrast this report with Essendon’s self report, for reference. What Gill has presented, is what we should have reduced Ziggy;s report to. Too late now l know, but the contrast could not be any more stark.

While Bomber should have left the players out of it, Evans should not expect to avoid scrutiny of his actions following the orchestrated publicity of his return to the fold of the club.
If he wanted to avoid publicity about being in the rooms after the game, he would not have placed himself at the players entrance and to shake at least one of the players hands. . He knew exactly where the cameras were.
IMO, Evans is using the players to his own advantage and is positioning himself for something bigger in the footy world.

Bomber Thompson has flipped flopped on this thing the whole way through. I wouldn’t be using his comments to add weight to any arguments.

Time for a review of ASADA’s handling of the Essendon saga to match the AFL review. A parliamentary inquiry would be more rigorous than that of the AFL.
The UK Givernment has just announced a review of UKAD .
And now .McDevitt - in an interview with a Roy Masters - acting for his WADA masters, has called for a national anti doping tribunal independent of sporting bodies, with the only appeal to CAS and excising the application of Australian law from the system. In his interview, he intimates that the AFL tribunal was not independent and that ASADA should have had the right to subpoena the likes of Dank and Alavi ( which was ruled against ASADA by the courts).
I imagine that the AFL tribunal members would be further incensed by those reported comments . His reported comments are also at odds with the actions taken as a consequence of the AFL internal review.
McD may think he has nothing to lose because of his imminent departure, but his Minister should still rule him out of order for those comments.

So, McDevitt feels the AFL ADT is not independent but he was happy to have a joint ASADA-AFL investigation with the AFL being the body the AFL ADT is not independent from?

How does that logic work? What a load of…?

The only reason McDevitt wants a process free of Australian law is so they can prosecute cases against athletes without any proof in collusion with WADA & CAS - like they did to the EFC34.

One of the big criticisms the AFL ADT had of the “ASADA CEO” was assertions made without proper evidentiary basis e.g., “Ed is short for Essednon” is a classic that springs to mine.,

That’s before ASADA using forged documentation to try and prove a batch of what Alavi made was TB-4.

An inquiry could be started through the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Ageing and Sport. Damian Drum the former Geelong player and Fremantle coach is a member of the committee.

The House of Representatives website lays out what has to be done to get an inquiry up:

the role of the Standing Committee is to carry out inquiries into matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government. The Committee could also inquire into matters raised in annual reports of Commonwealth Government departments and authorities or reports by the Commonwealth Auditor-General.

Really? So, in the past, BT has stated that he doesn’t think DE should tell the truth about what happened under his watch! When did he say that?

You forgot the Dean Robinson and Dank sacking debacle and Deano costing the club, a cool million plus an MBA.

I thought it was punish the organ and let them both go. Isn’t that how it works in the AFL?
