It’s a shame he had to get political by talking about global curvature…

The craft itself is incredible, in both the way it looks, and the way it works to re enter. Love it.

Need to start saving those pennies. Hopefully it becomes a reality one day that many more can experience it

I was amused when towards the end of the video you could just see the start of Draper’s ball drop out of the window.

Is it wrong to actually kinda wanna see a billionaire burn up on launch/reentry?

I’m no anti business person, but I just don’t like these guys. I don’t know how I’d feel.

It dropped out of the window? Sure you weren’t watching Spaceballs?

OK, this is actually about losing the soccer game, but…

I think history will look back on this and Musk as being as noted and pivotal as the moon landing.

What these people are able to make happen through sheer will is incredible. It will only be a matter of time until space is accessible to the public.

That’s huge.

Meh it’s about the benefit this sort of scientific pioneering could bring in multiple decades times.

Again I see this as a huge leap forward in the commercialisation of space. In a few decades time these sorts of leaps forward and advancements may be seen as absolutely pivotal.

I’m so conflicted on whether I should love the work all these entrepreneurs put in to advance their personal brand by pushing the boundaries.

On one side I love all of the tech, and the space exploration and the opportunities. And I love that they’ve made space and tech “cool” again.

On the other hand I’m bitter and old and hate the world.

Wealth might not trickle down in terms of dollars, but technology does.

The private space race will have some good benefits.

I think the argument is they can afford to do both - pay fair share of tax and fund these pioneering pursuits.

The counter to that is that these sorts of exploits may benefit the people going forward so the provision of tax breaks will benefit the population in decades to come. A 200mill investment now could be worth billions, even trillions in 30,40,50 years time, making it very worth while.

Could he fund it himself? Yeah probably, but I’m not sure that’s really the point.

I dunno, if I have to pick up the tax slack for certain breaks provided to big business, it’s for big business like these.

Just so I’m on top of this, is this the same Richard Branson who wanted the Australian government to help bail out his Virgin Airlines business?
