Perseids meteor shower at its peak tonight. Around 100 per minute coming from north east direction.

Best viewing 2am to 4am and for best results need to be in a dark sky area outside of metro areas. No looking at devices and other light sources for 30 minutes beforehand.

NASA Decides Boeing’s Starliner Is Too Risky For Return | SpaceX Crew Dragon Takes Over

And to top off @Nexta ’s post,

  • Boeing didn’t even turn up to the news conference
  • Boeing can pull out of spending anymore money to deliver a working Starliner. They are already more than a billion over budget.
  • NASA didn’t even once thank SpaceX or Elon for contributing to bring butch and suni home.

Embarrassing.

Tee hee

Polaris Dawn launch and standby windows scrubbed due to bad weather off the Florida coast. Looks like won’t launch until at least the 30th now.

Starlink 8-6 booster made it to landing but fell over and exploded. Oops. 23rd launch of that booster.

Satellite deployment looking good though.

The Daily Mail posted a graphic of the steroid about five miles across.

I’m getting addicted to turmeric… Iranian noodle soup is delicious.

Edit: wrong thread

Love a noodle soup, is this “Aush reshteh”?

I only know this one (I think a non-Iranian version of Iranian noodle soup) - very easy to make and delicious: https://www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/food/dinner/2019/05/31/iranian-noodle-soup/15587064008191

If it had gone from one metre to five miles, I’d say it’s perfectly valid to call it a steroid.

Stuckliner now Starliner has left the ISS and is looking good for re-entry in about 5 hours. Bursting the thrusters seems to have done the trick to stop them overheating.

Very little oscillation on the arms. Looking good for the catch. Late September is my guess.

Also Polaris Dawn is a chance for tomorrow after nearly 2 weeks of crap weather.

Polaris Dawn finally looks a go. T-3hrs. 5:58pm takeoff. No earlier times.

For the nerds to watch all the build up.
