Star Wars fans on Fridays -
Can we just call those Spiders, Kinrath?
Was very Aliens.
Whilst I enjoyed the episode. It was pretty nothing event. Got to see the XWings, baby Yoda having some fun, and frog lady.
Probably the least interesting of Series 1&2
I look at a Full Mandalorian season as a 4 hour movie.
Just like a movie there is peaks and troughs.
you dont need a filler episode on the 2nd ■■■■■■■ episode.
waste of time nothing episode.
Exactly.
And stupid frog nana taking us off on some stupid story ark.
It probably will work quite well when binged. But yeah, not epic.
Bo-Katan Is in this weeks Mandalorian… and mentions Ashoka Tano.
Very exciting.
Slowly building…
But he travelled all that way with frog made, and the eggs, destroyed his ship, almost died by arachnid, and then the frog many casually directs him in some vague direction to find the rest of the mandalorians…
New Ep was pretty neat.
Back to some decent story lines and adios frog man and frog woman, did those two episodes even add anything other than seeing a mon Calamari in a sweater from JC penny?
Loved the speeder bikes and tie fighter chase scene. A little comedic relief from baby yoda, and always nice to see Cara Dune. I like that there now could be a side story for her. Also ended nicely with the Moff hinting at his new army.
Is it just me, or are they using audio/ sound FX/ from the original saga in some parts?
Yeah, definitely using original sounds, music, props, ect…
I liked the republic era corvette in the final scene. What would have been a reserve support craft is now a relatively massive force. Fits with the theme.
the title theme is a banger.
Loved when Mandondropped that stormtrooper from the landing pad. We got the extended Wilhelm scream.
If you haven’t watched the making of stuff on Disney+, get on that.
Their 360 video screen wall is amazing. Seriously blew me away. They are projecting a live photorealistic background mapped to the camera position. It updates to match the parallax effect of the camera position. Means they have a 30m disk of ground and everything beyond that is the tv screen.
So ■■■■■■■ cool.
I’m loving it. With the recent movies there was always part of me saying “What was that bit for? Why did they do that? Bleh, that was ■■■■.” With the Mandalorian, it’s just sit back and enjoy. It’s got the right level of humour, action and story. It feels like what Star Wars should be.
And @Benny40 is right, the making of show on Disney+ (The Gallery, I think?), is a great insight. The sound stage thing with the huge tv background is incredible.
I reckon they have a much bigger budget this season. It looks miles better than season 1.
It’s almost movie quality.
I suspect the cost of the virtual soundstage was covered by season 1, so it’s freed up a bit of cash for season 2.
They’ve also learnt a lot on how to use the stage, so they can get even better shots with it. More efficient, more impressive.
I’d like to see them eventually make Disney+ exclusive movies. Lower budget. Using the same set up and telling smaller stories with lower stakes.
A movie like Solo, didn’t need to cost 700 million. Could have easily made that a low budget movie. Less pressure. If these movies are no good, people will eventually forget about them… if they are good, fans will demand more.
They must have spent all the money on CGI and the sound stage etc, .and asked their kids to do the scriptwriting for Cookies.
Some of the dialogue is deadset spoof like.
I mean,… when the ST’s arrive on the launch deck…

When in Star Wars etc do phasers need “loading”, …They are soldiers seconds away from facing armed intruders, … they need to be told this ? They hadn’t thought to have their weapons ready? After you know,… being trained as fking Soldiers?
)
And then …

Really??
'ken mmph. wut? ![]()
