I bet the AFL and every other club for that matter would love for north to say ■■■■ it and just move down there. It would solve a lot of issues in the short and long term and would be good for the game. The problem is these AFL ■■■■■■ stuffed it up when they tried to get them to go to gold coast with playing games with them, so from memory they wrote in their constitution or something they will always be based in melbourne didn’t they? The irony is i bet if at the time they were offered a good deal to move to tassie instead they likely would have taken up the offer.
A lot of Tasmanians would definitely buy memberships in a Tassie side to give it a kick start and most home games will be a sell out in the first season no matter what ground they played at. Traveling support would be minimal unless the airlines come to the party with decent flight times and prices and thats just to Melbourne. WA, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney will be long weekend trips and probably one away game a season for most.
Every Tassie footy fan obviously already has a favourite side since childhood and ,as most likely, if the first few seasons are aka the Gold Coast and a flogging most weeks the memberships and support might just dwindle. Like I said earlier, its gonna be a battle.
For those keen on a tassie team coming into the afl they are trying to get 50k people signed up to show their support. Easy sign up and anyone can do apparently.

United West and what?
When Polo boy says show how bad you want it you can guarantee it’s not on the afl agenda. At all.
Everyone’s paid up and proud down here with other teams, which when I lived on the goldy was exactly the same with the Mexicans who migrated north. Non of the locals cared or even realised they didn’t have a team.
If it was going to work you’d have to market it, and I’m purely guessing here, much live big bash and basically try and catch football minority’s such as ladies, kids and those with a passing interest.
And the nick name will end up being some horrific, nonsensical rip off of some yank team like the braves or the brewers.
Tassie boags brewers. TM.
United we stand, not west and.
Lol.
Got 'im!!
Then we’d definitely have some parochialism. (Big word I think is right).
Cascade Cruisers
Cascade Kickers
Its the beer we drink here.
Cascade curb crawlers
Cascade criminals
Yeah that could work…
Tassie Cannibals.
You know if they were to do it, the name would be Tassie Devils

I read the thread title and thought Tassie had decided, somewhat belatedly, to vote for Gough.
Gough won all the seats in Tassie in 1972. 5 zip !! %8% of first votes !!
Again won all in 1974, and even in the disaster of 1975, still won 3 out 5/
Damn Pigeons
Melbourne would object to that. And Shitemond might not like Tassie Tigers either — unless they were made to relocate south…
Huh?
It would certainly most likely be the Tassie Devils.
Tigers is obviously out, but Demons having a prob with “Devils”?? Don’t think so, … it’s as natural as you could hope for.
Wouldn’t the most natural name be the Maps?
The most unnatural would be the Tassie Cousins
When they played TAC Cup the were the Tassie Devils
