Terrorist attack, Christchurch NZ

It was an egg.

His purpose was to protest a bigot with an egg. I wouldn’t have said the same thing if he’d thrown a cup of liquid, (could’ve been acid), came at him holding a placard on a stick, (could’ve whacked him with it).

But he didn’t… it was an egg… and it never at any stage appeared like it could be anything more dangerous.

Or does Anning have such bad cholesterol that this egg could’ve given him a heart attack?

Seriously, it was harmless - get some perspective.

Yeah, I may have misread the context. Atheism, agnosticism, alternative points of view etc. are a necessary part of any sensible discussion regarding religion and philosophy, and not separate from the discussion itself. Which is to say, you can’t “teach” atheism, or even engage it as a subject, outside religion. It is all finally part of religion and a larger complex of ideological positions and belief systems. Think it’s too late for me to go any further down this rabbit hole at the moment.

And it’s also been one day since this atrocity took place. I’m still simply horrified and shouldn’t have entered into the discussion in the first place.

#eggboy lost consciousness during the headlock. But apparently ok now.

This thread…

Attack the left, even though it had nothing to do with this
Attack religion, even though it had nothing to do with this
Attack the kid, even though it was just an egg

meanwhile 49 people, who were doing nothing but meeting together for prayer and fellowship were shot dead with many others injured.

Shut up you twats who have gone stupid in this thread.

It’s interesting that of all the massacres that have happened in the past 4-5 years, this one has people on here talking about religion. Certainly wasn’t the first thing to come to my mind in this situation.

100% of the murders motivated by extreme beliefs or ideology in the US last year were committed by Right Wingers, but yeah the Left is violent. Even in this egging situation the kid was the least violent one involved in the altercation.

And this asinine discussion comes in the wake of the 4th(?) worst mass murder in modern western history.

Also why does Anning spend so much time in Melbourne? Can we ban him from entering the state?

His voter base is in Queensland, but that’s not where the immigrants are (i believe it’s pretty well established that areas with the most experience actually living with immigrants have the lowest rates of anti-immigration sentiment)

He wants to get on TV, and to show himself off as the big bad tough guy standing up to the muslim hordes. So he goes to Melbourne, the most left-wing place in Australia, talks ■■■■ to ■■■■ the locals off, and waits for the controversy to happen around him. He gets free advertising by saturation media coverage, and simultanously manages to look like the victim of an attack, and look like a tough guy for getting his thugs to choke the kid unconscious. His voter base will love it.

Mission accomplished for Anning, I would have thought.

I just don’t understand why eggs are getting demonised in this thread

Absolute crock of poo. I don’t even know where to begin.

And freedom of speech doesn’t preclude responsibility for the words you choose to speak.

Nothin wrong with freedom of speech as long as you’re prepared to be ridiculed or taken down for saying stupid ■■■■.

Fixed that for him.

Suspect that Anning’s only meeting outlet is Eriksen and the mob trucked in to Bendigo to protest against the mosque. None of them were locals. Eriksen was convicted for anti Islam hate actions when he staged a mock beheading in Bendigo.
That’s the company Anning keeps - no-one else wants a bar of him. He will likely be censured in Parliament when it next sits. It will be important to have this on the record.
Australia not projecting much of an image internationally, what with the nationality of the murderer and Anning’s statements given prominence.
