The 2024 Draft [no longer spec] Thread

Caddy and Kako

Bloody oath. We have a stack of things to fix but this is a small break of good luck that has gone our way at least.

I watched Isaac play in a practice hit out with/against a number of our senior players at the start of the year and he looked awesome. Chatted with him in the car park after the game and he was such a lovely, well-rounded young man. Said that he was really hoping to get drafted to the Bombers, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given he’s academy listed. We’ve got so many irons in the fire for small forwards (Menzie, Tex, the Davey twins) but none of them seem to be developing as we’d like. Really hoping Kako joins the list next season.

Who’s another small forward like Kako we can draft?

If we can come away with 2 gun small forwards this draft we be laughing

Berry been mentioned above.

but if we get Kako then that should be enough imo, if we keep both Daveys. and still have Menzie taking a list spot.

He will be the first small forward we’ve taken early in a draft in donkeys years. I thought it was pretty telling when despite all the hype that Alwyn didn’t attract a bid until 40 odd.

By the sounds of things Kako will almost 100% cop a bid inside 20, just really a matter of where.

It doesn’t always work this way, but to me that says he’s going to be equipped with the tools to have the best chance at succeeding in comparison to all the rag tag “small forwards” we currently have.

As part of this, the 20 per cent points discount applied to matched bids will be reduced to 10 per cent. However, the AFL will continue to review this and assess whether it should apply to all or some of father-son, NGA and northern Academy players.

Free pick Sydney!

When new user Caddy_to_Kako pops up, we can be confident that it’s a Nino burner.

Caddy, Kako and Armstrong a good basis of a future forward line?

I wouldn’t mind a dip at a guy like Travaglia, who can start as a hard-running half-back and become a mid. We might not have had success with this strategy, but most other clubs have.

And I’d consider trading or FA’ing for a KPF, as long as they’re not lacking in ticker. So many high-rated KPFs take years to come good.

Anyone watched the APS GF this year? They go hard at it and and have better skills than half of our team. There are some big bodied players as well. Have a look Dudoro!

Haha !

A couple of minor points about those rankings.

  1. Most of those midfielders are small, no bigger than most of the players we have already.
  2. The small forwards are measured from 178 - 190 cm. That is quite a range. Then the tall forwards start at 195 cm. Not much difference in between.

Melbourne and Gold Coast did us absolutely no favours last night. Unless ■■■■■.
Collingwood is the last hope to salvage something from the round.

Jobe looks good in the VFL @noobermensch

He always looks good. Smooth mover, athletic, strong.

Can he be consistent, compete hard enough in the air etc. That’s the main question.

Three goals in his VFL debut, I’m sure he’ll be very happy with that.

edit: make that four
