Berry’s recent shift into the midfield has given draft watchers a lot to think about. He’s not a prolific clearance winner at this stage, but his elite evasive skills allow him to navigate traffic from inside to out and convert stoppage wins by his team into damaging possessions. He still splits his time between midfield and his old forward role, and remains one of the most damaging players in this years pool inside the forward 50.
What were the numbers that are so concerning?
This is because Brisbane have another Ashcroft to pick up.
From memory his 20m sprint was around 3.2 seconds which is very slow, and his agility test wasn’t great either. I think his yoyo (endurance) was above average.
Impressive, good wheels, good disposal and he and kako on each forward flank could play next year and address our biggest long term problem (other than big bodied mids). As you said though our pick might be too high, but it is tempting as quality small forwards are invaluable these days.
Thanks again noober for your efforts. Having said that l wasn’t as impressed with Berry as l thought/hoped l would be. He just doesn’t have that same touch of class as Kako, not as assured and polished. Not much in it in terms of difference, but it was noticeable.
Good point gotta allow their AFL love child access to a f/s gun at a discounted price we cant have them miss out!
We’ve been recruiting these HBF for year where have they gone… into the midfield lol
Berry when playing forward absolutely has those traits, I don’t think he looks as dangerous as a midfielder
Draft forwards like Redman and laverde, if they aren’t good enough forward, you can send them to defence.
Ummm, we are also significantly benefiting from the approach this year so probably not one to complain about?
Poor Isaac Kako
Welcome to the red and black hole of development son
They’re finally getting rid of the stupid rookie F/S rule, so that’s something.
Wasn’t complaining
Now that we know that the changes they make to what you need to cough up to match a bid won’t come in until next year, I thought it might be useful to look back at what the Bulldogs used to secure Jordan Croft last year.
He was bid on at pick 15 which is likely to be around the mark that Kako attracts a bid.
So whilst we don’t have later picks currently, it shouldn’t be too hard to trade some in. It’s a pretty tidy deal.
Sadly, they’re sticking to “DVI” as the name for it and not switching to @theDJR 's superior “magical fairy dust”.
It’s an absolute farking rort, but I’m happy for us to benefit from it for a year.
