Im really starting to question the point of having a sub rule in AFL?
If not to make gambling companies more money.
What is the point?
Making it easier for the betting companies to make money every game. When a player comes from the field Tactically. What ever that is.
You really begin to wonder how they have got a way with it?
Lets say
I place a bet for say Z merret to get 15 disposals over 4 quarters and Essendon takes Z merret off tactically at the start of the third quarter, due to it not being his day, and they want to put fresh legs in to the contest.
Even though Z merret is on 8 disposals which is half way to the bet marker. The betting company wins and happily takes the money when the disposals are not reached, due to Z merret no longer taking place in the game even though he is fit and able.
Get rid of the Sub and put an extra on the bench,like before Demitriou or whoever had a brain fart, and this doesnt happen. Z merret has a decent chance of hitting the disposal target.
It seems to me to be a way of making the gambling companies I.E. sportsbet more money, maybe the AFL has an agreement with sportsbet for more $$$ if they keep the Sub rule.it seems they the AFL and sportsbet/others are the only corporations getting anything out of this rule. The punter is getting SCREWED.
While the clubs want the rule abolished.

Something about it not fair if a player is taken off with concussion and not having a player to replace him.
So here we are.

Yeah, but f you had the extra on the bench, its exactly the same, he has just had more of an impact as he hasn’t missed 3/4 of a game
