Anyone else see Avatar at Northcote Theatre on Friday night?
Great show.
Anyone else see Avatar at Northcote Theatre on Friday night?
Great show.
These cards are popping up in Japan and Australia with the rumored 2027 tour now looking more likely.
Possibly Feb/March 2027.
Anyone seeing the Mondays this Friday?
Fantastic! Venue wise, where do you think they will play in Melb?
The Drones tonight.
Moderately pumped.
Report back.
Indeed
Saw them last night. Great gig. Crowd packed, going off. Shaun Ryder sounded great and Bez was just doing his thing as usual with surprisingly high energy. Band and the female backing singer were outstanding.
Then to come out of the gig into Flindera St to sea of unhappy Fark Carltoners trudging back feom the ‘G made my night.
Shaun was up and about and Rowetta’s replacement is a talented upfront singer (Bez’s personal trainer and now his wife). The whole package really gets you moving.
Would love to hear some Yes Please material.
Her voice was phenomenal last night. She was so good and complimented Shaun’s vocals well.
On a side note, the support band Delivery were great too I thought. Young Melbourne band with their punk almost B52’s vibe.
In a word: underwhelming.
What they did play was great. Drones energy of old. Gareth is inhabited by a mad man whenever he steps on stage and quite probably when he’s off it as well.
I expect more than 70 minutes (including encore break) from a band on a “reunion” tour. I also expect to hear the songs that made them.
If you want to tour your obscurities then reform and release an album.
Play The Minotaur. Play Oh My. Hell, play everything you did as well as the songs that people came for.
In typical Gareth fashion, the only interaction with the crowd was to insult them. That’s fine, that’s part of the show, but it also makes you look like a massive cockwomble when the show is sub-par.
3 stars.
Ouch.
Sucks when gigs underdeliver.
Must have got them on a bad night. Went to the Thornbury theatre gig a few weeks ago and they were awesome. Played everything you wanted to hear and was quite an intimate show. Whole band was in good form.
Sorry you didn’t get the same experience we had.
Same.
I believe it.
I’ve seen them five times and it’s a 3-2 spilt epic / crap.
I think this one stung a bit more because it could well be the last.
Just saw Angine de Poitrine at the Edinburgh Psych Fest - absolutely amazing live - huge volume and great crowd vibes. If they get to Australia I highly recommend them. (Though a friend who didn’t know them beforehand hated it and walked out)
Another standout from the fest was GANS - recommend keeping an eye out for them.
Wow. Sour grapes.
Welcome back…a lots happened in 9 years…but not much has changed.
yeah I lurk most of the time - this place has been my soap opera fix for the last 20+ years ![]()
The guy who left early went out and saw Adult DVD and says they were the best band he’s seen in a long time - another one to maybe look out for.
