The concert and gig thread

Anyone know of a decent subscription/site to keep up to date with metal gigs in Australia?
not that I ever leave home, but I've missed a lot of gigs that I could haven't consciously chosen not to go to, rather than be disappointed that I didn't know it was on
Still struggling to unwrap the quintuple negatives here.

To be fair, haven’t was a typo that should have read have

Just got home from Battles. ■■■■■■■ amazing. I don’t quite know how to explain it. John Stanier is a machine.

Is this a sick joke? Never seen something this good

Must be.
Last year’s was pretty decent, too.

crikey.

Kanye needs the money!

Must really suck to be US$53M in debt…

Accadacca? If so, agree!

they came to hobart to see rosie again about 15 years ago. the gig was at the tca ground up on a hill above hobart in what was perhaps the dumbest decision by anyone ever. you didnt need to buy a ticket. You either moshed in the streets below, or rang council on monday morning. which everyone who hated it did.

and in typical hobart fashion about 10k turned up including me. insane.

16 years later im at the lockett end drinking premix with flashing horns on my head.

utterly insane.

If you want utterly insane, the gig they did at the Myer Music Bowl in 1981 was it. Not only was it the tour of Back in Black, there were riots after the show, police charging through on their horses & batons swinging & my mate & me wandered out afterwards like we were in a bubble protected from all the crazies.

What a night!

Yep…was outside sitting in a tree for that one.

Lol. Me too.
And add a little ‘calfornia sunshine’ for moi.

Saw Simply Red last week in Perth. Reckon I was the youngest person there. Don’t care, it was awesome.

Yep, he’s one helluva vocalist.
Holdin Back the Years is one of my all time favourite songs.
The lyrics, that booming voice soaring throughout…just unreal !

I saw them years ago at the Entertainment centre … must have been 86 …??

Completely by chance, a mate had some tickets, and TBH, if someone had wanted to have a games night or the swell was coming good the next day, I probably would have passed, …

I was so glad I didn’t, I’ve not heard many voices fill a place like his did, it was a really amazing concert.

If your close by, and its not raining, should be a good night

Lucky enough to get get reasonable flights to Perth over Easter.

Eagles of death metal play on the Tuesday - I have never really listened to them as I’ve got a heap of other stuff to get though first.

Are they good live and will I live not too regret it it should I attend?

I would if I had the chance. You have to like that genre. I’ve never seen them live, but some top class muso’s in there.

I took the name literally at first and got a bit amped - but yeah the line up is definitely qotsa type stuff. I like to cold call on acts I’ve heard I might like so I’m not going in with expectations which might spoil the night.
Just hope Dave groehl doesn’t make a random appearance.
Blokes a w@nker

Supersuckers @ Cherry bar should be pretty cool in a couple weeks.

When I read, “Are they good live and will I live not too regret it it should I attend?” Re EODM, … I feared you were making a joke, in what would be really poor taste … & hoped you weren’t…

…but then when I read, “Just hope Dave groehl doesn’t make a random appearance. Blokes a w@nker”

… I hope you’re making a joke, but fear you’ve just got really poor taste.

I read a foo fighters bio written by Mick Wall who is pretty good.

Grohl is a bit of a ■■■■.

His last few musical efforts haven’t been too flash, but if you’re referring to the Cobain/Love stuff, well there’s two sides to that story, & I don’t put much stock in one of them myself.

If not that though, why exactly? What has he done? I 'm no fanboy so wouldn’t have a clue, the last I heard, he fell off stage, broke his leg, went & had it set, & came back and performed in a wheel chair rather than let down the paying fans, & I thought, yeah, cool.

I certainly wasn’t thinking, gee, what a wancker.

Its a good book…you should read it.

The way he treated his band in the early days wasnt flash…like throwing out the original masters, rerecording it with him playing all the instruments and releasing it without telling them it wasnt them.
Some of the sackings also.

But hey…you dont get to be the biggest name in rock by being a nice guy. Its a pretty ■■■■■■ industry.
