Aussie squad for the World Test Championship and West Indies just announced and is basically exactly as reported in the media in recent days.

Cam Green tuning up for the World Test Championship Final with another ton for Gloucestershire overnight. Very nice.

Interesting stint he’s had over there. With one more game to go he’s gone 112, 3, 4, 2, 8, 128.

Meanwhile Marnus nicks off for a globe and out for 4 second dig.
Batted at 3

I’m sure he’ll get all 5 home tests to sort out his issues. Again.

I think that’s looking increasingly unlikely to be honest, unless he finds real form in the next 4 test matches or the early First Class season. Not in so much because his form is so bad, but because with Green coming back in but not bowling as much, and Inglis emerging as a genuine test batting option without taking the gloves, there is a very real squeeze on for spots in the batting line up, and he is the vulnerable one.

Unless Marnus finds consistent and convincing runs in the next 6 months, I definitely can see him being dropped. And until this point it’s not something I’ve thought was particularly likely.

I mean, there’s even a real chance that Marnus misses the WTC final to be honest.

Let’s be honest here. Marnus has been in a downward trajectory for an extended period. Brilliant player at his peak. He gets, like all senior players of his generation, a degree of latitude from the selectors for reasons as complex as much as they are mysterious and not shared with we the public. If he was a sales rep working for a private company he’d have been on Seek long ago.

Bazball may have finally its level. The Poms are 3/498 at stumps of day 1 in a test against Zimbabwe. Duckett, Crawley and Pope all with tons.

I’m sti undecided if this should be classed as an official test or not

In should mean Crawley will get a plane ticket to Australia which I’m not unhappy about.

Is it just a 4-day test? Seemed to be that way when they were showing schedlues for each day.

Yeah, 4 day test with obviously some tweaks to playing rules in regards to time, overs, declarations etc

They still didn’t get 90 overs in yesterday.

Is it classed as a test? I thought it wasn’t. I don’t think a 4 day game should be classed as a test

South Africa played Zimbabwe in a 4 day test about 5 years ago. The ICC amended the rules at about that time.

Wow, had no idea. I think it’s ridiculous

Just call it a friendly or an exhibition

Doesn’t count towards WTC but is still classified official test

They’ve been talking to make games against minnows tests if they’re 4 days. Probably minnow not vs minnow.

A century to Brian Bennett for Zimbabwe. Scored off only 96 balls. Certainly not a day the 21 year old will forget.

They are 3/187 still trailing the Poms by 378

Another ton for Cam Green in his most recent county match. It’s been quite a fruitful stint over there to get him into form before the World Test Championship Final.

Meanwhile Marnus knicked off again for just 23 after twin failures in the previous match. Tonight will be his last chance to put a score on the board before the test.
