Not sure how I feel about this Connolly selection, on one hand it’s great the selectors are giving a young player a go and definitely seems to be a shift in selections policies - but on the other hand it’s at the expense of another young player with loads of potential who has also proven he can be effective at test level

As great as the last test win once, and it was collosal… we really need to win this test. Otherwise it’s yet another failure to win an overseas series.
Agree. Nothing against Connolly, but he has a total of 309 first class runs, and has never taken a wicket outside of the Big Bash.
How as a selector can you ever talk about rewarding performance to another player when you are debuting the guy who is currently 41st on the Sheffield Shield run tally this season?
(To be fair, he has only played 2 games this season, 50% of his first class career. McSweeney has also only played 2 games and scored nearly twice as many runs.)
I understand that left arm orthodox is desireable… But he has 0 wickets in first class cricket, in domestic 50 over games he has 3 wickets in 8 games @56.7, domestic T20s he has 12 wickets from 27 games @ 26.2.
